I have an old goldberg eagle 2,and i have a couple of floats in the right size,and i know how to mount them,,BUT how shall i put them on right. (how far forward or backward on the plane)

The step of the float should be just behind the balance point.
40% of the chord is the number given by a recognized authority.

The Eagle will be a good floatplane, and I have seen it reported that the floats will help it fly inverted.
