Default Seamaster recommendations

I'm finally going for it, I'm going to fly off water. I have been given a Sea Master 40 that I have stripped of its covering. I have made a few changes, replaced some plywood, reworked a repair etc. I'm wondering, now that it's in the bones, is there any recommendations for making it better? One guy suggested that I take the side floats [:-] and move them in closer to the fuse so they don't dig in to the water and spin it good idea? Also, should I mount those permanently to the wing?

Looking forward to any input!

Thanks
Steve

If you move the tip floats in, they will not be able to keep the wingtips out of the water. Once you get the hull up on the step, the tip floats are well out of the water and water-loops are rare.

Yes, gluing them on is a good idea. You would have to crash pretty badly to tear off a glued on tip float and in that case you would probably have more damage than that to worry about.

Ditch the velcro and double side tape the tip floats on.

Thanks for the replies, I'm guessing for what it is, it does not require change?

If its a origonal kit built , I an several others found by adding a full extra bay to the wing worked out good.

So just a bit longer wing span to help it fly better, hmmmmm
that's certainly doable, thanks!

Also leave the tip floats where they are on the tip..if it has a keel skeg. take it off this plane is a real trip to slide around like its on glass. (drifting) it wont do it with a keel. an you dont need one to take off. the 40 is a great flying plane. send pics.
