Well just bought a new toybox for the kid and what do ya know, lots of really nice foam. Thinking of hotwiring some floats for my GP extra 330, since the taylorcraft bit it. What concerns me is that the servos for the rudder and elevator are in the tail and exposed, is this going to be a problem? Also, taking votes for taildragger floats or conventional type.
The more I think about this project, the more I want to build a pat trittle supercub and float it..... Wanted Pat Trittle 52" supercub...

I have the GP electrifly Yak 54 on conventional floats and it flys great. The servos in the tail should not be a problem, just put a bead of vasaline around the base of the splined shaft before you put the servo horn on

My Feedback: (1)
I have had servos in the bottoms of the wing forever, and never a problem. I used external servos when I built a Kadet Sr for my son, and it survived float flying.
Search for other threads on this: Ed Moorman recommends a particular brand of servos that are specifically waterproof.
If in doubt: A dab of vaseline on the shaft, case joint, and wire entry.
