I have just finished glassing and painting my GP 60 floats that I am mounting to my GP ARF J3 Piper cub. However, in my haste to to pack the plane and floats into the car, I forgot the instruction manual. Since the floats are not mounted, I was wondering if anyone has the dimension for mounting the floats to my cub. I believe the CG is 3 3/4" back from the leading Edge. However, the side struts for the mounting system, what are the appropriate dimensions. Also is there any specific dimensions as to where I should mount the floats on the Cub? Any help is greatly appreciated. If anyone has the manual to the 60 floats and would not mind scanning the mounting section into a GIF or TIFF file I would greatly appreciate it - It seems GP is a bit stingy when it comes to giving out the manual online.
Thanks,
Jed

I should have the manual, and will try to find it today. I have a scanner so I will scan the setup page(s). You should mount the floats with the step at the CG or slightly behind it. Also keep them spread apart about 1/4 the wing length. The tops of the floats should be parallel with the underside of the wing or give the wing a slight positive incedence angle by making the dimension from the float to the wing larger at the leading edge than at the trailing edge. This will help to get the plane off the water. Mr. Jim Casey has put together a web page for the Florida Float Flyers that has a "ton" of info on floats and setups. Check out other threads in this forum and look for his name and you will see a link to the FFF site.............Seaplane

My Feedback: (1)
It seems that Seaplane and i have a mutual admiration society going:
If you feel that the GP60 floats are heavy, or if (when) they leak and get even heavier while they decay from within, Seaplane makes some pretty darned nice foam-core floats that look a LOT like the GP floats, but are lighter and will never leak. I cut foam floats, too, but I'm not disposed to sheet them for you like Seaplane will.

Jed, I found the manual, but would like to know exactly what you need so I don't send the wrong pages.
Jim, thanks for the plug. You are right, I do admire your willingness to assist others in this great hobby. I'm not the only one, as was seen in an other recent thread......Seaplane

Seaplane - thanks - I just need the pages that describe the mounting of the floats to the fuselage. The measurements is really what I am looking for and the part that talks about cutting the fuselage to find the former. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I scanned the page you need, but it is over 1 meg which is too large to e-mail. If I zip the file it is only 171K. Can you unzip it with WinZip??.......Seaplane
