Is anyone using a .60 size (2-stroke) engine on the Seamaster?

I'm debating which engine to use. I'm sure prop clearance won't be an issue.

i think a 60 size 2-stroke would be to much for the engine pod. You would probably see engine oscillating back and forth along with the pod. theres only room for an 8 oz tank in the pod also.
Though you could beef up the pod to strengthen it.
the seamaster really works good with a 46 2-stroke or a 52 4-stroke. the saito 56 would work great too.

im using an OS .52 4-stroke

Ok, I decided on an Irvine .53 for mine. I hope it has good power and it is supposed to have a very reliable idle. The color of the engine should match the scheme pretty well too.

I saw that someone has plans for this plane, I was wondering if they are computer documents is there any way I could get a set? This looks like a plane I could have fun building. Thanks.

Does anyone have photos of the stab supports or flying wires? I just put mine together last night and it is a little flimsy.

Dude....

I love the pictures. You just sold another Seamaster. Ordered it yesterday, I have an old .46 fsr longstroke that would do nice on it.

Sea Master

I have a Sea Master ARF and mine has a freshly rebuilt OS 61 SF ABC. And I had a buddy make me a larger fiberglass engine pod so that I could install a sullivan 14 ounce flex fuel tank in the pod. And then I painted the pod to match the plane with Rustoleum paints the colors are almost a perfect match. My plane has flaperons and will take off after getting on step in about 30 feet and climb out very well. I am running a Graupner gray 3 blade prop or an APC 12x7 2 blade. I think it flys better on the 3 blade. I will shoot some pictures and post them later for you guys its a cool plane and I have about 25 flights on mine at least.

Just got a Seamaster in a trade with a fellow RC'r. From what I'm reading the seamaster sounds like a good plane. I was wonderif anyone could give me CG. and throws for the plane. I am thinking .46 two stroke for it. By the way does anyone have the main land landing :D gear for sale? Mine has wire brace on the tail section also. Any advice is welcome since I have nevr flown off the water. I do fly RC but just land person so far.

Is this the kit or ARF version? The landing gear is available through ACE/Thunder Tiger. The gear fits both versions. Make your landings very smooth as these will bounce back up off the water (done that, flat bottoms are not forgiving). If you have the kit, add some type of keel to the bottom to help keep it from sliding, the ARF's have this in the kit (I think). BTW for winter time, they fly great off the snow too! I've flown mine off of grass as well. Sorry don't have any throws or cg, mine is down for repairs. It had a bout with gravity after the cordage I had it hanging from broke.

CG is supposed to be 3 to 3-1/2 back from the leading edge. Throws are: Elevator - 1/2" up and down
Ailerons - 3/8" up and down
Rudder - 1" left and right

measured at rear edge of control surface.

Hope this helps.

Sea Master ARF

I tell you guys what my ARF Sea Master fly's great with my OS 61 SF ABC and the Graupner gray 11x8 three blade prop. The big prop really pulls hard on takeoffs and on vertical lines. Whats really cool is when I deploy the flaperons and idle back for landing the plane just floats in and just settles in for a nice landing. But if you come in too hot it will bounce :D I did not install the plastic keel on my plane as I find it fun to make high speed turns on the water while taxying ;) I must have over 75 flights on mine now and thats allot for a float plane. It fly's great I would recommend it to anyone. One other thing I did since mine is a float plane only was to cut the covering off the bottom of the wing and epoxy the wing floats on permantly.

wing tip floats

on my seamaster arf, i used silicone to attach the tip floats. The velcrow seemed cheezy.
I left the covering on. Just put a bead of silicone on the float and squished the floats on and let dry. There attached very well with some cushioning effect as well. They have taken some pretty good beatings and they are still attached. Silicone is waterproof too.

I used servo tape on my tip floats.

Mark

Thanks for the landing gear. Got it OK the second time. Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I have been very busy. I did get a chance to take it to the field for a flight and it was great. Take off well.... with that squat gear there is a dip in our runway and it bounced a little and king of floated in to the air. Looked a little strange in the air like tail low. This may be just the visual effect with the pod up there, but flew great. I don't want to sound like the standard review but a couple of clicks of trim was all it needed. Landings also smooth and easy. The old super tiger .45 seemed like plenty of power for this type of plane.
Now if I get a chance and have enough courage I will try my novice water flight.

PS: Again Mark thanks its great when people in the hobby can help each other out. Good flying.
