RE: Looking around for a new seaplane

If you fly until the ESC cuts the power down you need a LIPO capable ESC. If you fly more after the timer there is no need.

Just fly about half the expected time (without powerloss of course)....

RE: Looking around for a new seaplane

Do you think another plane with the same heavy batteries will do better ? Charger 80$, Battery 40$(depends on brand and size) doesn't sound so much for me. And (almost) every plane will do much...

RE: HVP Catalina engine setup?

There is no reason not to go with cheap brushless. Even if the BL are a bit heavier than an expensive AXI(or similar) they will still be lighter than any Speed480. And the efficiency will be good...

RE: HVP Catalina engine setup?

Wing is removeable (two bolts)

With 8x GP2000 about 1400g; 2x PRO480 with Graupner 6x4 do fine.

Good quality. Sufficient instructions.

The given angle of the motor mounts is OK for...

RE: Herr Aquastar electric conversion?

I have an Aventura with the same problem. If you add ailerons you just need to add a small hole at the place of the tip floats where the rubber band goes through. The second Aventura I got had quite...

RE: Retracts for a PBY 5A [Kyosho kit]

Christian Ramoser (Varioprop) http://www.ramoser.de/ did that for a smaller one (1,5m PAF). Even with wheel brakes.

RE: A FEW BASIC QUESTIONS IF I MAY...

Most sources I read say to mount the tip floats so that they are clearly outside the water when taxiing and if the wing is leveled. I fly small flying boats (Aventura, Catalina) and the only problem...

RE: Blohm und voss 138

Correct - sorry. I didn't remember the trailer exactly, as I have the DVD.
I haven't succeded taking a scene from a DVD to the computer, yet. But if of interest I might try.

Do you know:
http://www.modellflug.tv/rcwasserflieger.htm

It is in German, but it features an Austrian BV138. See the trailer.

The Runway yes, but if the wind has the wrong direction you have to land away from the beach and you can't just go and get the plane. And try to turn around and drive back...

RE: Question about "glassing" resins

As I will glass my first floats in the very near future I have some questions.

From the picture it seems you cover the sides one after the other. Starting with the bottom ?
What about the...

RE: The most stupid things we do

A variation:
I tried to set some of the TX parameters for a model while flying. Unfortunately I switched to another model with different servo reverses. Luckily it was a wooden beginner sailplane...

RE: Fool on the field

But we can't know the direction of the "field" antenna - could be anything, ditto for the controlling TX.

RE: Fool on the field

Interference is a very real danger in this case.

RX usually have a regulated amplifier as first stage behind the antenna to adjust to the signal strength regardless of frequency ! Thereafter is...

RE: graupner piper cub j-3

I had a smaller Cub (130cm) and the same experiences. I used an electric motor combination which runs perfectly in another plane with nearly the same dimensions. But the Cub had only one flight which...

RE: Piper Cub 80" 6.5lb electric conversion HELP

Without a better wayI question this comparison.
A Shockflyer and Hotliner both may use about 11-12V but the current is 4-8A to 100A. So one may compare Watts.

RE: Donald 4

I flew it since the last post. Handling was very comfortable. I didn't try rolls (can't rember about loops) but turns were much softer and more controlled than with rudder only. For general flying...

RE: PBY-5A Catalina ?

Just for the small versions (~130cm): We had several at a meeting two weeks ago, which flew well. I made my first flight with mine and it ROW just fine. One model had even retractable landing gear...

RE: Donald 4

Yes, I cut the fullwood parts at the back of the wing leaving only a small strip and fixed them with tape. 2 servos in the wing and a more or less water tight connection to the ailerons.
