RE: Balsa USA 1/6 Sopwith Pup question

I find that you have to be right on with the c.g. Mine took 12 oz of lead in the nose and still wound up with about a 16 oz wing loading. It flies around at less than 1/2 throttle with a Saito .56...

RE: my first build

Building is as much fun for me as flying. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see something I have built take to the air. There's no other thrill to match. Well - maybe not that far!

RE: 1/6 Scale Sopwith Pup from Balsa USA

I just bought one at the Scale Masters meet. They show an elrctric option for power in the instructions. They seem to have a lot of options for power. The one they had hanging at their trailer had...

RE: Kits GP should reissue

I've had a Super Sportster 90/120 kit in my rafters for a bunch of years and am now building it. I've got great hopes for it when it is finished. I'm thinking of using Solartex for covering.

RE: FLAIR FOKKER D- 7 EXP. BUILDERS/PICS/INFO??

I ran across this post and just thought I'd pass along a bit of information. Check out Arizona Model Aircrafters web page. They have the lozenge fabric in Solartex and different scales.

Glenn Torrance

What has happened to Glenn Torrance's web page? I sure hope he is still in business.

RE: Super Stearman Build

I'll have to admit that I have come to a point of doing nothing on this plane for quite a while. some other building projects (Fokker DVIII and an SE5a) got in the way. I'm planning on using a...

RE: Best scale photo!

Here is a picture of Joe Bukovchick's DeHavilland Gypsy Moth. He recently purchased it on E Bay. It is 1/4 scale and was totally scratch built. Joe has recovered the model. It is powered by a...

RE: Midwest Super Stearman replacement cowl

Try Stan's Fibretech. I'm not sure what his web address is, but you could "Google" him. Good quality stuff.

RE: Let's see your work shop!

How did you ever find your way into my shop? You don't even know where I live! I lay something BIG down and if I turn away for a minute, it's disappeared.

RE: SIG Piper Cub

You might want to look into the Adrian Page Super Cub. It's designed for electric, but can use glow. With an 80" span it looks impressive.

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

The Funaero kit is just that : a "fun" scale kit. It is not supposed to be museum quality. It just looks terrific in the air and is FUN to fly.

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Lookin' good! You are going to have to consider what you will do about your glow plug. I mounted a Dubro remote connection in the cockpit along with a charger/switch combo. It seems to work very...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Hi, "Warped One";
I'm using an OS 91 Suprass with the 90 degree manifold so I can route the exhaust out the bottom like they show in the kit. A 14x6 prop is perfect. Even with a heavy hub, I...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Warp;
Looking at your posts really brings back memories to me. I've been flying mine now for about a year and everyone at our club still loves to see it fly. Keep up the goog work!

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Now that you mention it, the nose does appear to be a bit longer even than the Funaero 1/4 scale SE5a. I've been having so much fun with the way it flies with a 91 Surpass that I haven't given it...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Of course, this is a FUNFLY kit. You have already noted that the SE5a has a flat bottomed airfoil. Another deviation is in the lower wing. There is no "notch" where it joins to the fuselage. The...

RE: FunAero S.E.5a build

Mindwarp;
Be sure and check the cabane struts. I've built a couple of these kits and had to re-bend the cabane wires every time. That is the only "klinker" in the kit. This is my favorite plane...

Kit for electric power

Hello, all;
I've never used electric power, but am cosidering getting my feet wet (so to speak). I see there are a number of large scale kits intended for electric. I was wondering if any of the...

RE: Flying wires on FunAero SE5a kit

The roundels on the fuselage and on the top wing were from Major decals. I cut the white edging from white trim material using a stainless pan for the wings and a drinking glass for the fuselage. I...
