RE: Vintage R/C Plans 9' Catalina PBY-5A

Another vote for the Twin Synch. I bought mine for the insurance factor and have since had 3 engine out non events. Another big plus for a seaplane is hassle free differential thrust water...

RE: My First Twin Design

Interesting thread. I remembered the Grumman Mohawk as one that seemed to have out thrust. Googled it up and found some drawings that sure looked like out thrust. These were built from 1959 till...

RE: PT-19 on floats

This one was a Great Plains ARF, OS >91FS pumper, Slocan 44 inch narrow floats, about 14 lbs. It may have been the best allround Float plane I've had. Sure do miss her. It's a shame GP...

In 1976 an 1/9 scale (86.66") DHC-6 Twin Otter plan was published in the Model Builder magazine.

If you google Bill Northrop's Plan Service, They may still be available.

Good luck. They...

RE: GP Electricub on floats.. Question on CG..

Nice looking cub. I had a plane on floats (PT-19) that exhibited exactly the same characteristic you describe. I concluded that the immediate pitch up with abrupt decrease of thrust was caused by...

RE: Senior Telemaster Floats

Perhaps of interest to the fin area comments is this picture I shot 4 years ago of a "civil" L-19. you can sea that tip fins were added on the horizontal stabilizer. These are often seen on full...

RE: Canard on Floats

Hi NONY:

yes , I was at the June Shuhwap. In fact I've been at all of them since the fall '02 event. These are must do's. It's certainly the best place I've ever seen for a float fly

RE: Canard on Floats

The plug in wings do make a relatively compact transportation package. See SE in the back of the Mini-Cooper.

With the center of the flotation volume of the float well forward of the aircraft...

RE: Canard on Floats

Ed, on the Somethin'Extra/Great Planes .40 single float combination, the protrusion of the float was dictated by the shape of the pieces. with the step located 1/2 inch aft of the spar (CG), the nose...

RE: Canard on Floats

Ed, Here are a couple of pics of the same Somethin Extra on two different float setups. I flew it for five seasons on a pair of .40 size Great Planes Sport Floats. Best float flyer I ever had. ...

RE: Puddle Master Question on Thrust

I have a PT-19 on floats. It has a relatively high thrust line. When it was trimed for level flight at full throttle, abruptly closing the throttle caused a strong pitch up. Two degrees of...

RE: multi- engines

I don't know about the matchbox or equalizer, but I use a Futaba MSA-10 Servo Synchronizer on my Twin Otter. I have heard that it is similar to the JR Matchbox.

RE: Top Flite DC3 Radial Engine Replicas

Hi Randy

All of the DC-3 and converted C-47 airplanes that I worked on back in the 50's and 60's were powered by Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp R-1830 two row 14 cylinder engines. As I recall, the...

RE: Twin Otter

An update on the 99" scratch built. Last week we got the bird to the lake for water test and amazingly it went well. At 23lb 110z all up weight it flew like I would imagine a Series 100 DHC-6 at...

RE: Seaplane pictures

Here are some pics of the 99" Twin Otter (Sorta) that I flew off water for the first time last week. I was amazed that the two Magnum four stroke .61's could drag the 23 + pounds out of the water. ...

Hello HybridVW

You have the right one. I've taken about a jillion pictures of the jump plane. N52FW is the closest TO to me so that is the paint I'm trying for.

RE: Sig SE on Floats

I think you will love the SE on floats. I have been flying mine on GP 40 size sport floats (heavy) for four seasons. The foam floats would be a better choice.

Another thing not mentioned is...

RE: Rudder to Throtal mix ?

I have seen several twin engined seaplanes set up with rudder mixing on the throttles. Typically these ships do not have a water rudder and the differential thrust is used for taxi steering...
