I have always used 39" to 40" floats on the LT40, with the high wing it needs the stability of the longer float.

Horizon Hobby glass floats are expensive & heavy 28oz.

I just did some 24" floats they weighed 4oz with carbon fiber spars & spreaders.

Looks Like you have to be a "Smith" to make good floats!
These are 39" Flat Bottom floats, one of the first set I made.

I have heard of guys using RC Boats to go out and get their planes, We were thinking of an air boat that could push the planes back in. Anyone had any luck with something like that?

You can use SS cable .020" to make a pull pull off the water rudder, run it thu plastic tubing to make the curves and hook it up to the rudder servo.

It adds about 6-7oz. less if you don't paint them. I just shortened he rear support which lowered the tail of the plane in relationship to the floats.
