RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

Yeah! I thought so too, untill I tried it. Now when I release the elevator on the roll out the tail comes up perfectly level, no nose down attitude and no jerking it off the runway and then having to...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

When I asked the same questions about gear up or down, I was told that since you want your best balance on take off and landing you need to balance the plane with the wheels in that position. Nose...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

One last thing. Level the fuze with a spirit level right along the panel line that runs about 1/2 way down the depth of the fuze with the gear extended. It will fly. Best, Glenn

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

Actually it was a little bit of old Chevron "Sky" that I had kicking around. I barely had enough to do the stripe and the spinner. I've always just light sanded with about 250 or steel wool enough to...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

See pg 48. I just dry sprayed mine ( two very light coats, just enough to cover ) right on the metal after a light steel wool and cleaning. I wanted it to be matte. Took 5 minutes. If I screwed up,...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

I drilled two small holes in the face of the solid side and screwed them down to the workboard with the threaded hub flange up. Then put the tires over the hubs and pushed down to snug against the...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

Its a little satin-ish. Not dead flat, not semi, not satin. I shake the can all the time I'm using it and keep the motion going, and as soon as it shows "wet" I move on, just before it would run. I...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

Yes. I built it pretty much stock with just a few personal bits here and there. The pilot is a doll's head with a lot of styrofoam bits and filler. I didn't work too hard on it. It has an board glow,...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

I don't know which pics you got. Had some trouble. There should be 8. It flew very well. I had the throws set a little light so it was slow to respond, but good for a maiden. Landed rock solid. G

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

It's all just a mystery to me. Can't get the photos out of my computer onto the page here. Will get my 12 year old neighbor to do it. Sorry. By the way, I stay awake nights thinking about that last...

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

Maidened mine a few days ago. Like a trainer. I have an OS 3500 in it, flew first time with a wood 20/8-10 prop. Does anyone else have the big OS, and if so what prop do you use. ?

RE: The complete YELLOW AIRCRAFT SPITFIRE thread.

I have done the following several times and find it is the best way to go for a soft edge. Just wad up some masking tape stand off balls about 3/8 of an inch and slip them under the mask about 1/2...

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV

I have a ST s300 in this plane with a custom wrap around inverted pitts muffler from Jtec. A 3 blade 16 x 8 prop, I fly it at 1/3 throttle. Great engine, great plane. I have 3 St2300's and love them...

RE: G-2300 with bisson pitss mufler

I agree with that . I have 3. Just make sure that the muffler bolts are good and tight with lockwashers at the head of the bolt . You may have to make a flat 3/16 or so aluminum spacer extension in...

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito

Buy OS 52 Four strokes on sale. They fit as long as you use J&Z spinners which are perfect profile. They have more power than you'll ever need and you can sell them a lot easier after you crash.

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build

It hauled butt with a 16 x 8 3 blade. Tons of power. I flew a couple of circuits at 1/3 throttle to sort out elevator and get used to a touch more aileron than was needed. I never fly dual rates....

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build

OK, so here's a maiden for you. I'm running a new Supertiger 2300. The plane came out about a pound light since I didn't add the bombs, left out one servo and mounted the engine way forward. So the...
