I built a few F16's for club members, the early kits were awfull, elev servos were up in the nose with nyrods snaking down the fuse, ditto for the ailerons.
I changed that to short coupled mounted...

I copied the sweep mechanism used on Yellow aircrafts F14, its a giant servo with worm gear and a feedback pot on the output shaft, using the electronics from a futaba servo and...

Tom Cook test flew the scratchbuilt F14, from MAN magazine, the kid had built it a bit heavy but the shortcoming was the RK740 fans, they just didn't put out enough thrust with .45 engines.

mybusiness partner was manager of Yellow aircraft , he was well informed on the F14.
Here are a few of his comments,
