RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

I have a Saito 91 in mine - I went through 3 or 4 of the Saito 90-degree elbows, every one cracked at the threads where it enters the cylinder head. The elbows are made for use only with the...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

I would try putting two nuts on the exposed shaft threads and jamming them together, out near the end. Then you can grip these with a visegrip or wrenchwithout ruining your threads, and try getting...

RE: CMP Cessna 182 Building Thread>the best scale Cessna 1.20 size ARF that is on the market!!!

opjose,

I can't disagree with you as to their other planes as this is the only CMP plane I've had.

Have you built this particular plane?

Reading back through this thread, which only...

RE: CMP Cessna 182 Building Thread>the best scale Cessna 1.20 size ARF that is on the market!!!

Progress:

Aluminum duct tape, lengthwise, on the wing tube: 2 layers and it built it up to just the right size. Still planning to glue it into one piece.

Also went to pull-pull for...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

I have an ABS cowl available if anyone is interested... three pieces are glued together, joints are filled and sanded, even cut out the louvers (see post # 617 this thread for a picture). Also ABS...

RE: CMP Cessna 182 Building Thread>the best scale Cessna 1.20 size ARF that is on the market!!!

Has anyone found a proper-fitting wing tube for this plane. In spite of the prior posts in this thread I bit, and bought. My kit just arrived and it really is as bad as everyone says. Sure, it...

RE: GP Super Stearman

Thanks Jim, I think the engine will just fit inside the cowl, as long as that taper isn't too severe. I'd rather not invert the 2-stroke, plus the best Pitts available is a side-mount.

thanks...

RE: GP Super Stearman

Thanks again for the input. I have read the manual and the engine is suitable for the plane - I had it on a goldberg sukhoi which is of similar size.

What I need to know is will it physically...

RE: GP Super Stearman

I've read all 719 posts extolling the virtues of gas engines - and I appreciate the suggestion - but the 120AX is on the bench already. Plus, for the one night a week I have a chance to fly, I don't...

RE: GP Super Stearman

Hello,

Looking for a plane for an OS 120AX 2-stroke and thought about this one. Anyone know if it would fit in there side-mounted without cutting up the cowl?

I read back to page 25 or...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

I haven't flown mine yet this season but I remember from last season the Saito 91 seems to barely hold my RV4 in the air. The plane comes in at around 12 Lb (if I remember), and I think I'm using a...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

I did the same thing as BBOwen, CA on bottom and epoxy on top. I've only about 10 flights in, but it's still there. There's a lot of contact area there for the CA to bond to. In my opinion the...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

Ask a hundred people and get a hundred answers, but for me a piece of manilla folder is all the job calls for. It is 1) readily available; 2) extremely cheap; 3) most importantly, extremely...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

I used an EMS/JOMAR Glow Driver (Tower #LXPNU4) but I decided not to put the battery on board and am instead just using it as a remote adapter.

As I said earlier, I thought it was worth five...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

Sorry here they are. Note that where the glow plug adapter is, it's pretty much out of sight if you're above the plane, and it's way behind the prop.

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

Ken:

I mounted my remote glow plug adapter on the right side of the cowl, right under the cheek, right by the cowl mounting screw. It's attached to the cowl, and I put a dean's connector...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

Ken Cz - I think you mean the tank itself is hitting the ends of the engine mount bolts that pass through the firewall, not the neck. I cut the bolts so they are just long enough to be flush with...

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60-.90 ARF

Hello,

Just got my RV4 and looking into things it looks like my Saito 91 will fit but the muffler will be a problem. Anyone who's done a clean install of a Saito 91 on this plane, some pics or...

When I ordered mine he said they keep that one in stock; apparently it's a popular model for them.

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

Thanks - would've liked to use it, too bad the rest of the ABS cowl is garbage. Same with the belly pan - by the time you cut the stock bellypan to fit, it bends so easily it doesn't even seem...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

I cut the slots out on the Sukhoi kit-supplied ABS cowl with an X-Acto knife and it came out great, then I ended up getting a fiberglass cowl. The fiberglass cowl can't be cut out easily as the...
