RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Can I join? [8D];)

The white one was clocked at 174km/h (~104mph) at our Mother's Day Funfly (level pass after slight dive) with a tired Royal .46 on 10% fuel.

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Wes - I moved the CG from about 16 1/2" (from the TE of the wing) to 15 1/4" (with the tank empty) and that made all the difference. Trimmed out okay and inverted became possible.

Laddie -...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Flew my NS at Shushwap today and had a great time. Met some old friends and made a bunch of new ones.

Had a rough start to the day as I had what we thought was some sort of radio interference. ...

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Flew the maiden flight on my Northstar today.

We have a big float-fly coming up soon and I wanted to fly it before then so I took it to another club field close by and flew it off the grass.

RE: Northstar mods - Tell me what you think

Has anyone ever tried an NS without the LEX's?

I'm finishing off one that was partially built and am not sure if I want to put in the extra effort if they aren't really needed.

RE: Ultra Sport 40 Kit Bash

This project is something I've wanted to do for a long time and doing it with a proven design has reduced the amount of unknowns and made great plane (and in my opinion) a better looking and even...

RE: Ultra Sport 40 Kit Bash

Added the wheel pants finally.

Over 60 flights have now been flown.

This is now my favorite plane I've got as it can do pretty much anything I ask of it. Very quick and very stable at low...

RE: Airplane Finish

So for this application (weight sensitive) I guess the consensus is that I stick with the Ultracote until I get some more experience with fiberglass and paint.

Thanks for all the advice.

RE: Airplane Finish

Thanks for the advice so far but I think it's time to add some more info.

I'm building a Balsa USA Northstar. If you are not familiar it's a delta wing seaplane that is notoriously tail heavy. ...

Airplane Finish

This isn't necessarily in regards to pattern planes but you guys seem to have the best and lightest finishes out there.

Last year I followed Mike Hester's technique to glass a small balsa cowl...

RE: Knowledge Quiz for Warbird wiz

So they could fit them in the Hangar.

At least that's why the Shorts Stirling had a wingspan of just over 100 ft. The hangar door size was 112ft

RE: MVVS .77

Can you guys tell me where I can get parts in North America? The header pipe has come apart and my former supplier doesn't carry MVVS anymore.

4-Stroke dissasembly

I'm pulling apart an older but barely used OS .48 Surpass to check and probably replace the bearings.

I've run into a problem in that I can't get the wrist-pin out. I've removed the sleeve and...

RE: MVVS .77

Thanks for the info.

Could you tell me what RPM the .77 & the .49 deliver the best power.

Both of them are in Ultrasports and I'd like some options on props I should try for each.

They...

MVVS .77

Putting my .77 back together after the Cylinder came loose again and noticed the notch in the sleeve isn't lining up with anything. Is this normal? Most engines I've seen it lines up with the head...

RE: Ultra Sport 60 Engine?

About 2.8 minutes after that picture was taken I crashed it [:'(]

It's since been rebuilt with a new foam wing.

It's quite simple really, the balsa on the bottom of the nose was cut out and...

RE: Ultra Sport 60 Engine?

If you can find one used. What you want for what you described is an MVVS .77

RE: What was your shortest lived model?

My father and I built a Balsa USA Force 1 (the 40 sized delta). Couldn't seem to get much power out of the Supertigre 40 but he decided to make another takeoff run. Got up a bit of speed but...

RE: The Long Awaited Ultra Sport 60 Build Thread

Start with post #841 (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6822225/mpage_34/key_/tm.htm#) and the following couple. I ended up skipping the fillets but worked very well for me.

RE: Ultra Sport 60 build,

Keep it simple.

Cut a hole in the bottom (or side of fuse) approx. 1"x2". Put a piece of lite-ply across the fuse a little smaller then your battery (to keep weight to a minimum), use...
