Dacron doesn't stretch like mono. I would think 7-10 pounds would work. Those servos aren't all that strong.

The original Aerobird and Firebird used mono.

Maybe the rubberband you are using...

I would recommend something like Hitec HS81, 82 or 85s for the rudder and elevator. I have seen HS65s used for the rudder. If you are going to have servos in the spoilers they can be very light....
