RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!

Yes, I would say that is normal at full throttle with those packs. It's all about how much amperage you're pulling with that engine/battery/prop combo. Do you have a Wattmeter to hook up inline...

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!

BZguy:

Ah Ha! I thought you were using an 11x7 prop. Now it all makes sense. Last night I ran an 11x5.5 and got it down to 37 amps; still too high. Awesome thrust though. I only let it...

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!

HI BZGuy:

Just finished my Yak and went with your recommendation on the motor---Hacker A30-22s. I put on the 11x7E prop and have an X-30 controller. I use a TP 2100 3-cell powerlight or super...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Scoubidou,

Is that a K&S cannister? And if so, which one? The inlet diameter on the ones I found weren't 30mm, which is what I thought the Super 80 needs.

Also, where are you putting...

RE: Great Planes 41" YAK 54 Elevator Issues

Thanks for your great info on this plane---I totally would've just flown it with no reinforcement whatsoever had I not learned from your experience. Probably would also have put in the lower...

RE: Great Planes 41" YAK 54 Elevator Issues

I didn't know of another way to subscribe to the thread without typing something, so I just did the dots to avoid the usual dumb blather that escapes from my keyboard.

However, now that I'm...

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!

Bzguy:

I know you like the Hackers, but what do you think about using the Rimifre 35-30-1450 vs the 1250 Rimfire that Capt. G is using? The higher Kv Rimfire is rated virtually the same as the...

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!

Capt. G---Howz your performance with the larger Rimfire motor in terms of pulling out of a Hover? What percentage power is it taking to hover, and how fast can you pull up and out of it as you...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

So...has anyone flown their plane with the new CF tubes yet? Would appreciate your thoughts.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Thanks John, that makes sense.

I haven't measured the length of the wing tube---do you have that handy?

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Hi John:

I just went to one of those online conversion websites. It says that 319 mm is 12.6 inches. Isn't that a little short for the stab tube? I measured my original one, seems like it...

Base-loaded Antennas

Hi Danny:

I wanted to get your thoughts on using a Dean's mini base-loaded receiver antenna, in general. I've used them in the past on various FM / PCM receivers but am now wanting to use one...

OS #8 vs A-5 Glow Plugs

To all:

I believe I've read someplace that you actually get more power with a cooler glow plug than a hotter one.

I am flying an OS .15 LA in a racer that uses 15% nitro fuel. We fly...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Tell us about your cannister mount---unless I missed it in a previous post. Then could you point me to it?

Thanks

RE: Re-drilling CF Props?

Thanks.

Actually I got it wrong----the used prop is drilled for a BME 100 and I have a ZDZ Super 80. I know the Super 80 doesn't share the same bolt pattern with the older version 80.

RE: Re-drilling CF Props?

Thx for the info. I'm thinking of getting a used prop drilled out for a 3w, and filling the holes. Then I'd drill it out for my ZDZ. I have no idea if the bolt pattern is close or not.

Re-drilling CF Props?

I think I already know the answer to this, but I just have to ask: is it possible to take a Carbon Fiber prop that has been drilled for another engine, fill in the holes, and re-drill it for my...
