RE: New Q500 design

Back when I was building Racer II's for APRA, I did experiment with a lifting body (so to speak). As opposed to a Racer II, I called it a Racer Skewed. Basically when on knife edge the the lower...

RE: Northern CA racing

Saturday August 12 1:00 PM is the next 424/428 race at Livermore. Don't need to be a club member, but should be a AMA member. New racers are ALWAYS welcome. This is a fun/great group of guys who will...

RE: Northern CA racing

There are AMA 424 and AMA 428 club races held at the Livermore flying field (EBRC). These races are casual in nature, however they will give you (and your caller) some on course practice. Turn lights...

RE: Predator II ??

Gary,

I've noticed my 3.75 lb Quickies kick up a little more dust on impact than my 3.5 lb'ers.

RE: Fuse Bagging

Dave,

A comment on that fuse crack. From the picture you can see the crack(s) propagating from sharp corner to sharp corner of the bulkhead tab cutouts. The fact that those cutouts have sharp...

. Barnaby Wainfan...there is a name from my past. Worked with Barnaby at Northrop Grumman for 10 + years. To say the least a "out of the box" creative aerodynamc thinker. Almost Rutan like. Back in...

RE: Drifting viper?

Let me start out by saying that I have never owned a Viper, however I have experienced some odd flying Quickies. If your plane is structually sound it could be a aerodynamic issue associated with...

RE: Any northern California Q500 races?

All AMA 0.40 size pylon racing is a three pole course. The Livermore club races are on a three pole course. This includes APRA (AMA 424), Q500 (AMA 428) and Q40 (AMA 422). Again AMAC is a good place...

RE: Any northern California Q500 races?

As Kevin mentioned, EBRC (Livermore) hosts monthly club Q500 races during the summer.
Typically 6 to 12 pilots in 424 and 2 to 4 pilots in 428. These are informal
"race what you brought" type...

RE: Vendetta CG?

A Miss Foxy Lady would be perfect for AMAC. In fact I have been flying one there for the past year and half. Well, flying it up till three weeks ago when pylon 2 put a end to that plane. Even being...

RE: Vendetta CG?

I've flown my 3 year old Vendetta at Cg's of 3 3/4 to 4 inches. 3 7/8" is my current setup. First flights were at 3 3/4", no issues. I did experience one tip stall during landing with the CG at 4"...

RE: Fast Woody

For the record, at last weekends Basin Race there were three Racer II's running 1:08's and 1:09's. These planes were typical balsa/foam/Monocote construction.
