You can paint over it, no primer, and still see the weave fine. Or if you can find the right color you can airbrush on colored dope. to remove wrinkles after painting use a heat gun, not an iron

I'am not sure what your plan is? Do you intend to glass the entire plane, but do the control surfaces with a scale fabric look? If that is your plan than you should look into Lite-Span it's a iron on...
