I'm sure 60mph would be plenty fast.  I'm in another collegiate design competition that flies electrics.  We fly 60-70mph on our speed missions and like 50mph on our heavily-laden missions.

As far as reasonable budget, I meant under $1000.  However, as I posted above, I think that the model of their engine is specified as an OS46AX.

Well, rated horsepower is about as useful as a poopy-flavored lollipop.  Manufacturers SUCK at maintaining consistency with how they rate rated power.

The group purchasing this engine is a college-level design team.  There would be no need to move it to another plane.  Even if they want to reuse it, the competition always calls for a 46.<div>...

That was one of my first thoughts.  My other thought was, just because there is no takeoff requirement, a Jett46.  I know they're not optimized for slow, heavy planes....but there is more power.

Nitro, did you notice I provided links to both the big and small one?  Also, if you go with the small one (which I'd recommend)....I'd get an engine on the larger end.  You can always move that...

I don't mean crashing....I just mean rough landings when he has an "off" day.  Sticks can handle VERY rough landings, whereas my Kyosho Spitfire was pretty picky about its landings.

I hear you about the stick.  I had the white and yellow generation Ultra Stick even before they incorporated the aero-balance tab into the rudder.  One of my favorite plans of all time.....not far...
