RE: Tug Power questions

When it comes to controlling your tugboat, you have several options (see diagram).

A mixer is optional, but can simplify your controls. Personally, I'm using 1 channel for each ESC, and another...

RE: Using non-BEC receiver with ESC

I've got a similar issue; I need to plug two ESCs with BEC to one receiver. So far, they don't like it, and only one will engage.

I'm using a JR R700 receiver, with two Traxxas XL-5 ESCs.

RE: Scratch building 105" W/S Super connie L-1049 G

RE: Scratch building 105" W/S Super connie L-1049 G

That's a bad situation.
Acetone is often used to clean up wet epoxy, but in your case, it would probably dissolve the foam.
I'd try to use some of the hardener directly, let it cure, then sand...

PBY-5A Catalina 1/10

Greetings to all!

I am currently tooling up to build a 1/10 scale PBY-5A Catalina, so I thought I'd get this thread started, to share my experience.

I've been involved in scale and remote...

RE: Catalina PBY2 - Budd Chappell

Congratulations; she's beautiful!

Did you consider using a three blade propeller, like the original plane?

RE: Palmer 132" C-130 Build

FYI, if you want something beefier for the RDS:

I'm gonna order a couple myself to try them out: the nylon gear set doesn't inspire enough...

RE: Palmer 132" C-130 Build

Yeah, here's a quick Paint drawing:

I've been over it a few times, and was only wondering how well it would scale up (this idea is for a smaller model). I thought that using thin brass sheeting...

RE: Palmer 132" C-130 Build

The old school bent wire method seems perfect here: bent a piece of wire at the hinge point, and slot your aileron for it. The servo rotates the wire.

BTW, thanks for posting your work so far....

Robart hinges:

No external traces, save a groove to allow the deeply embedded hinge to clear. Optionally, use pockets to make the whole thing...

RE: DX7 users...

To clarify, the 7000 and 6200 have dual antennas, and have an effective longer range. The 6100 and 6000 are short range, designed for indoor or park flying only (single antenna).

RE: Props-More Myths Busted

I too believe that 3 bladed props are way under-rated, but I guess I was trying to say that they may not be meant for speed and/or aerobatics, but suits my application just fine.

There's no...

RE: Props-More Myths Busted

Quite a fabulous debate, just finished reading it!

I'm building a PBY Catalina, 1:10 scale , and a 3 blade prop is a must: 2 blade isn't even a consideration.

The hardest part to...
