RE: Club 40 Race in Alabaster!

Thanks to all who organized and helped to run the event. I had a great time despite the heat and the loss of my plane. I think it was my receiver that glitched due to the heat. My transmitter was...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

I'm running a Magnum 91 RFS 4 stroke (blue head version). I've got about 5 flights on this motor plus tons of bench time trying to figure out how to tune 4 strokes since this is my first one. I...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

Actually, I used a higher torque Hitec servo for the rudder, but the ailerons and elevator have st47bbs which are rated at 55 oz/in on 6 volt. I have a regular st47 on throttle (not bb).

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

I did similar in mine. I used standard JR ST47BB servos and a 6 volt flight pack. They have similar torque to the standard futaba on 6V. I have yet to maiden mine, but don't anticipate having any...

RE: Bridi Utter Chaos 60

Thanks Mike. I think we have met, if you're who I think you are. Anyway, I have a son due in August, so odds are I won't have the plane finished in time for this year's SPA event. I had planned to...

Playntraffic, I just emailed you. How did your build turn out? I just ordered this kitI'm a member at Alabaster too, but don't get out there as often as I'd like. Anyway, I'd like to see your Chaos.

RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery

Barry, the Alabaster Club (just south of Birmingham) is starting to put together a Club 40 event. The LHS bought about dozen of these sky raider kits and I got the last one. I understand that someone...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

No, the canopy is tinted. The photos were taken in direct late afternoon sun, so perhaps it's just "well lit?"

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

I finally finished mine today! Started it back in December. Coming from park fliers and a .46 sized 2 stroke, I'm really impressed by the size and weight of this bird. It's a bit intimidating...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

Sounds like a nice build. I look forward to seeing some pics and good luck on the maiden! We had our house on the market last year around the time I got mine, so my building time was limited to the...

RE: If you had to pick from these three?

I have an HPI RS4 EVO+ and an HPI Savage X SS. I don't think you can go wrong with HPI stuff out of the box, but there are typically a lot of hop ups available if you like to tinker.

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

I'm progressing. I should finish it this week. Here's a pic of the build so far and of the cowl color difference. I guess it's not really that bad, but not the perfect match I've gotten in the past.

No problem. Next time I have something to order at Hobby Lobby I'll drop you a line to see if you still want me to do it and we'll go from there.

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

Thanks. I'd be happy to make you one. The gauges come from Hobby Lobby. I had planned on getting the general aviation 1/5 scale set, but I waited too long to pull the trigger and they sold out, so I...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

I'm finally getting around to putting mine together this week. I pulled out the cowl and put it on the fuse just to see the effect and it's a very different shade of red compared to the covering. The...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

My LHS made me a deal that I couldn't pass up and so I took the Skybolt ARF home Friday. In anticipation of getting it at some point, I had previously picked up some 1/5 scale cockpit gauges from...

RE: Super Skybolt ARF

I'll be getting one this year for the holidays. I plan to use a 91 4 stroke (probably a Magnum) which will be my first 4 stroke. When using a motor within the suggested parameters from Great Planes,...
