RE: Famous FMS-4CH-1 receiver servo configuration

Ok, to be a bit more specific: this is the Rx that came with the Famous FMS-4CH-1 radio. The Rx has nothing on it except a little sticker denoting that it transmits at 72 MHz (which works for me...

Famous FMS-4CH-1 receiver servo configuration

I recently purchased my first radio from a guy at my local field. All I need at the moment is a cheap 4ch Tx/Rx but ran into some problems during wiring. He gave me an ugly stick with servos still in...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

@Clean: ya, the Spadet is a lot more fun to fly than I thought a trainer should legally be allowed to be. :) I've seen Draft's youtube videos on his channel, but Ima head over to SpadWorld and check...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Ok, I'm not trying to bump thisthread, but seeing as it has been a little while since my last update you guys are due for some kind of information.

Reason for inactivity: I was repainting my...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Thanks draft, I will just trust in my construction (what a fool I am! :)).

Update: my fiscal pool is especially dry this paycheck, but I nearly have the plans ready so get ready to see them here...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Thanks Pat. Once I get a new bank account I will check them out. Out of my impatience though I've built my Spadet wing entirely out of 4 mil. (This will be interesting.) I'm using Draft's preferred...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

@DraftMan: it's ok, I'm makin' it one day at a time. Now that my college finals are done I'll have more time this summer to devote to work/spads.

Update: Bought two sheets of 4'x8' Coro for $27...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Okay, I told you guys I'd an update once a week and I'm gonna stick to it. So far the finishing touches on the blueprints have had to stop because of finals at school, but those will be done with...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Well, as I haven't yet calculated approximate weight yet, I really don't know. In all honesty though I don't want it to be a big gasser, I'd like two or four props across the main wing to minimize...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Thanks, but I found that my blueprints needed revising. Now that I've finished the hand drawing, I need to put it into the computer to get more accurate plans (my lines don't always end up exactly on...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Hey guys, sorry for going quiet for so long. As Draftman said, I no longer live in his area, I've moved out to the coast and I'v been super busy getting a job, a car and rent taken care of. I'm still...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Great ideas, but I'm thinking that a short landing strip is important to act as a landing safety net. Can't expect the lander to be precise everytime, I need room for error.

RE: Methods to fuel proof firewall

Wow, I learned a lot. I don't know about you guys but I'll be using Sledge's technique. I was wondering also what do you guys make your firewalls out of? How thick? (Sorry for the n00b question.

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Thanks Hugger. You have plenty of time to practice, but you will be the 1st pilot to attempt this. You'll be the man I call when it's ready;) I just moved so my hobbies are having to take a quick...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

Well that is a lot to chew on. Thanks for the constructive critisism though clean, I will definently think of ways around those limitations. For the record: I'm not insulted by your post and my dream...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

What do you mean Clean? I'd be more than happy to share any thoughts/pictures/ideas/plans that I have, but right now this airframe is just a thought. I decided to post this idea up and maybe it'll...

RE: Just passed my flight test today!

This is awesome. Thanks Ken. You were spot on though, as I was reading I started grinning and then I got to "now wipe that silly grin off your face" and I just busted out laughing. Can I request the...

RE: Just passed my flight test today!

Like I said; last time I really had to resist pushing that Spadet to it's limits, guess I found them today. Guess if I start feeling guilty I could just build you a new one, but like you said: "it's...

Just passed my flight test today!

Now all I need to do is get insured and I'm set to go. Passed my flight test (Draftman is my instructor) and did pretty good. I wrecked Draft's trainer though (oops), good thing these are SPADs! I'm...

RE: New airframe idea - Flying runway

I've changed my mind. Since .40 seems to be the most common airframe size for SPADs then that's what I'll make the scale of this airship for. If I am mistaken in this assumption, please inform me....
