Actually the AP rounds did not work well during WWII until the end.  Sabot rounds were first developed by the British in Sept 1944 for the 6pdr then the 17pdr.  The Comet used a sabot round but...

Moreover the sand bags or metal sheet armor were there to pre detonate the round so the molten heat would be spread out over the armor instead of over a pinpoint location and burst through.

What is the best grease to use on metal on plastic running gear for tanks? I spent 6 bucks on some Tamiya Molybdenum grease and it is no good. It seems to be really sticky and that is it. Any ideas?...
