RE: New 53cc engine now available

That's basically marine 2-cycle oil. You want to find oil for air-cooled engines with "low smoke" or "ashless" on the label. Get the Penzoil. It is tried and true.

Still, the oil is not the...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

Sometimes I get an engine burble flying KE one way (not sure which way) as well. Basically the inlet air gets screwed up as the aircraft enters high-alpha and messes with the carb air flow. Some guys...

Agreed. I get 6800 on a bunny 22x8 running 40:1 Penzoil.

RE: Edge V2 Trim and Batteries

Ok - so what do I mix? Down with throttle? Down with rudder? I'm all about doing the work to get it right, just don't know where to start.

Edge V2 Trim and Batteries

Greeting all -

I'm having a bit of trouble getting my Edge V2 to track right. I have been steadily moving the CG back in an effort to get rid of a pull to the canopy when inverted, KE , etc....

RE: New 53cc engine now available

Have you tried looking for a silicone replacement? Small engine / automotive shop, cut to fit. Zip tie to hold in place. I have built several sets of ignition wires for V-8's - and it seems like some...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

Mine starts in seven flips like clockwork (as long as it has not been more than a few days between runs). Two flips when warm. Scornful looks from the DA crew as well.

RE: New 53cc engine now available

Just have to say Tom -

My 53 is STILL a great engine. After sitting since October, I finally got my Edge out to field today. After wetting the pump diaphragm with fuel and priming the fuel...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

Completely off the subject, Pat - I seem to recall you having some experience trimming a Vess propeller down a bit. Is that right? If so, how and how much should I take off of a Vess 23A to use on my...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

I don't know how much the DL costs, but Tom's customer service is pretty much priceless. That's the kicker for me.

RE: New 53cc engine now available

I had a transition problem when advancing from low to high slowly. Quick was great. After much frustration, the easy fix finally came when I pushed the throttle to the burble and kept it there,...

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!

Here's my take on the bigger engine - having flown the WH Edge 540 with a seasoned G-62 extensively: IMAC all day, perfect. 3-D OK (but I'm no 3D expert). Get some heavier landing gear, or beef up...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

SPITTLE UPDATE:

Finally found time to install / test / tune a new reed block on my TOC 53. Major reduction in spittle, and what's left seems more like it's from the muffler (black, not pink). I...

RE: Aileron gap question.

No part of my Dave Brown spinner (from Tom ) extends aft beyond it's center. The backside is recessed some, but comparing the center and the outside edge, it is essentialy "flat". That being said,...

RE: 50cc Edge V2 has landed

Cut two identical hardwoood wedges from 1" boards that taper from 3/16" thick to 1/16" thick, over a length equal to the distance between the outside edges of your standoffs. NOT THE END GRAIN. Table...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

I'm not really in the mood to re-do my servo linkages right now. I'm going to wait and see what the new block does. But thanks for the thoughts.

RE: New 53cc engine now available

I picked up a Zenoah V-stack to try - but it's too long to fit in the cowl, and I'm not about to punch a hole in the cowl (or shorten the stack) for a "maybe" fix. Tom's sending a new reed block.

RE: New 53cc engine now available

Got the engine tuned up with new carburator and tested today. Flew for about 25 minutes total.

Still have the spittle. Baffle in cowl didn't help either - but did cost about 300rpm on the top...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

I have the spittle bad - and as far as I can tell the needles are right on the money. It turns the 22X8 bunny 6900 static now. Great transition. Rips the prop in level flight (like no engine I have...

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!

Hey Tom -

Way back near the start of this thread you were looking for a way to attach a nut to the underside of the gear legs (instead of having to tap the aluminum). While nobody's complaining...

RE: New 53cc engine now available

My WH Edge is my first gasser as well. The TOC has been a piece of cake. It spins a 22X8 at 6900 rpm static (buy a good prop, not a Zinger), with just one gallon run through it so far. Starts cold...
