RE: Engine for Midwest Extra 300XS 80"

Not twins, but I had this plane several years ago and flew it first with a Zenoah G45 (flew fine) and then with a DA50 - was terrific with a DA50. If I had one again I would say a DA50 would be my...

RE: DA50 Noise - Bearing or Rod ??

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. I took the engine off the plane and the local gurus and I had a look at the engine tonight. The most clink / clunk that I can feel is mainly at top dead center or...

I have a DA50 with about 5 gallons thru it, running well up until last night. Was on my third flight of the night and heard a slight change in the engine noise. The guys in the peanut gallery thought...

RE: G45 Jump Start

Many thanks Ralph, I have PM'd you.

If I take the jump start off and reconnect the connections the usual way, take the plug out and ground it on the engine, then spin the engine with a starter,...

RE: G45 Jump Start

Thanks tkg - perhaps the cheapest starting point is to wire in a new switch and try that first before replacing the mag coil. Not sure how else to test a mag coil.

G45 Jump Start

I have a G45 with Jump Start that has run fine for several seasons. This year on my first start the engine fires and runs, but when I flip the toggle switch from 'start' to 'run' the engine does not...

RE: Converted G45 wiring question

Thanks - actually I just did PM Ralph and trust that he will get back to me. The wire reminds me of miniature coaxial cable with a center wire with plastic shield around it, with multiple single...

RE: Evolution 35 on Midwest Cap?

Have to say that I run a DA-50 on a Midwest Extra and it seems like a great combo. Since the Cap and Extra are the same size I would say go with the DA-50. Just my experience. I used to fly the...

RE: Midwest Extra 300

Just an additional opinion. I have a MW Extra that I built 2 years ago. Last year I flew it with a G45. The plane would do basic aerobatics but was no ball of fire, especially in uplines. It had...
