RE: ParkZone Slo-V Review

Greg,

I have been trying for over a week now and I cannot download more than about 3 meg of that video. I'm really interested in the Slo-V and I'd like to see some footage of it in flight. ...

RE: GWS ME-109

I have a 2015-4100 and I can tell you that it is a dog on 8 cells. It really needs a 3s lipo pack (~10 cells) to perform.

You might look at the 2015-5400. The higher KV will really help it...

RE: Dandy GT Experience

Definitely. The Dandy GT is awesome. Landing is a bit different--I've found that it's best to leave some power on until you start your flare.

After you get some GT experience, you can pretty...

RE: wattage corsair, will not fly????

Wattage planes have a reputation for being heavy and underpowered. This is defnitely not a good first plane. Seriously, a slow stick is what you need.

RE: Formosa and himax

C or D will work. You'll have to adjust your prop size to compensate. I'm using that motor on 3s and the D gears spinning an 11x7 prop. You'll like that, guaranteed.

RE: Aerobird's nose keep going down

Sorry, I didn't notice that you are from Australia. Something makes me suspect that you don't have Radio Shack stores down there. :)

The tail boom is the black tube that connects the tail of...

RE: Help Me Stop Breaking Props

You could try disabling your brake on your ESC, if you are using one. I've smacked my props a few times now on landing and haven't broken one yet.

RE: Aerobird's nose keep going down

Go to the grocery store and get yourself a pack of bamboo skewers. You to radioshack and get yourself a packet of the smallest zip ties they have. Now cut a length of bamboo skewer to fit through...

RE: Another Aerobird maidens...

Congrats on the successful maiden! It's something you'll never forget.

My advice to you is that you should always hand launch at full throttle. Anything else is just asking for trouble.

RE: Electric Formulae

You could try electricalc. http://www.slkelectronics.com/ecalc/

Why wouldn't motocalc install? Did you get a specific error message?

RE: How do I press gears on motors

You can use a drill press, a C-clamp, or a thick piece of wood and a rubber mallet. The C-clamp is probably easiest. Use a small nut underneath the gear so that the motor shaft can press through. ...

RE: aerobird V tail or rudder/elevators?

Stephen, the path that you are taking is almost identical to the one I took.

I wanted a relatively cheap way to get into the hobby and see if is something that I'd want to commit more time and...

RE: Electric Formulae

The best thing you can do is go download a 30-day evaluation copy of MotoCalc from www.motocalc.com. Then you can select the particulars of your combo and run an analysis that will help you choose a...

RE: good engine set up for 3dx

Oh, you might also check out the Thunder Power 3s 1300mAh packs. They are a whole ounce (3 oz) lighter than the Kokams for about the same price. The max average discharge on these is about 9 amps,...

RE: good engine set up for 3dx

I have the Himaxx 2015-4100 in a GWS "D" gearbox (6.66:1). I love it. For 3d stuff you'll want a deeper gear ratio so that you can turn really big props. I run a 9x7.5 for speed and a 12x3.8 for...

RE: First Aerobird Challenger flight

Congratulations on your first flight. I still remember mine! I'd advise you to go ahead and try pro mode. I did it on my second flight and I didn't have any problems. In fact, I think pro mode is...

Himaxx Dandy Sport upgrade... wow!

I recently dropped a Himaxx 2015-4100 in my Dandy sport. It is spinning APC SF 11x7 and 12x6 props on a GWS "D" gearbox, powered by a Kokam 3s 1500 mAh pack. Holy cow, talk about amazing! Level...

RE: I am new?

If you can get an accurate weight for the airframe as well, a measure of the wing area, and your performance expectations for the plane, we can be a lot more helpful in steering you toward some...

RE: Is there an adapter to plug your hobbico charger into the wall

You need a 12 volt power supply. Radioshack sells several. I have the 3A version and that has worked fine for me. I may regret it when I get 3s LiPolys. I wish I'd gotten a power supply with a...

RE: control of Aerobird

I used pro mode on my second flight and thought that it was much, much easier. The plane is more responsive and easier to control. You'll spend more time controlling the plane rather than fighting...

RE: Brushless EPS-300C Hop-ups

I thought the GWS 350C was just a 300C timed to run in the correct direction. Am I wrong?

Thanks for this thread. I'm thinking about taking the plunge into brushless territory also.

RE: From Aerobird to ?????

I feel like a broken record, but the dandy sport is a good e-powered aileron trainer. The build is easy, but a little more involved that for a foamie.

RE: Dandy Sport flight pack.

I covered mine in Solite. It was pretty easy to work with, even for a newbie, though I've seen many that look better. The best thing about solite is that it is very, very light. On a light model...

RE: Dandy Upgrade

All you really need is the sport wing and an extra servo for the ailerons. You could fly the sport on the smaller motor. However, the plane would be more exciting and acrobatic with a 350C-C or D...
