your dowel issue is fine. dont worry about it. remember, the glue joints are only as strong as your fit. if you have a gap in your fit, dont rely on the glue to fill the poor fit. the better...

i got it weighed yesterday and it came out at 11.9 pounds. very doable for some air time. i need to find some time to do the maiden flight, but hopefully it will be soon.
