RE: Need help choosing composite

To make life easier for you. You could make a removable/replaceable landing skidplate out of something like HDPE plastic. That eliminates the retracts which are not very complicated but just another...

RE: Fiberglass weight gain

I'm not sure that polycrylic is waterbased polyurathane. I have found what I like and have stuck to it. Let us know how it works on a test scrap.

I do prefer semigloss as you don't then have to...

RE: Fiberglass weight gain

The Minwax is a waterbased polyurathane that is a lot easier and safer to use for many applications such as glassing wings and fuses.

It's fuelproof up to 15%, is a single process application,...

RE: How Do I Cover Byron Ryan Foam Wings?

You can sheet with balsa using many of the methods such as poly glue, etc. You could glass over that and prime/paint for a really nice finish.

Or you can vaccum bag fiberglass directly over the...

RE: What are the steps to paint in the mold?

Awesome, thanks.

Patience is something that I am constantly struggling with.

It pays off though when a part comes out nice.

RE: What are the steps to paint in the mold?

Great, thanks for the tips.

I have fuelproof dope, could I use that as clear or will it chew up the wax?

I saw somewhere that liquid mask like RC car guys use was used with fantastic...

RE: What are the steps to paint in the mold?

I figured a gentle hand with an airbrush would be the ticket.

RE: Which type of fiberglass?

What size plane are you building? Is it a hollow fuse constructed from a female mold layup or are you glassing over something?

The final projected weight and its use will determine what type of...

What are the steps to paint in the mold?

I have seen some really nice pieces come out of molds lately that are prefinished in color. Can anybody tell me how to do this?

I have an airbrush and about 200 bottles of ModelMaster paints to...

RE: Trying to estimate strength vs weight.

Thanks for the advice. I've got my open B stuff figured out. Here on the West Coast we have designed a plane called the Mako which is proving to be great so far. Details are on the RCCA forum.

Trying to estimate strength vs weight.

I have finished a mold for my 1/12 scale RC combat TA152h.

I layed up my first halves and am sure they will not be able to withstand the punishment that will be dealt to them. I only used 2...

RE: Cannon Powershot A75

I have an A85 which is close enough to answer your question. Basically, it will capture the images at a few frames a second, it is not even close to seamless video but it will do if you just need to...

RE: Film covering a sheeted foam wing?

The one other trick I would suggest is picking up a WoodPecker. It's 5 wheels with these gnarly little spikes on them, you run it over the balsa and it creates little pockets. That way you eliminate...

RE: Heed help

CG is definitely it but also you need to see what your engine incidence is and what your elevon reflex is. As a very general rule your elevons should have about 1/32" or 1/16" up reflex. Your engine...

RE: Got my plug just about finished. Few Q's

Those panel lines look great! Being that my model is 1/12 scale I think I'll go the route you did and marr the surface after it's all pretty looking[>:]

For the canopy I used some fineline tape...

Got my plug just about finished. Few Q's

I'm finishing up a 1/12 scale TA152 plug (my first ever) and I'm just about ready for the priming/painting stage.

Is there a spray can line of primer and paint that will be good enough to shoot...

RE: 2548 builders - what planes have u built!

I'll be slamming together TA-152's. That way if there is ever a 2610 event, the plane is a crossover and all I need to swap is the muffler.

Just me .02. I'm still a scale diehard at heart.

RE: I'm trying to join 2 carbon fiber rods. Help!

RE: JKA Corsair

I agree with sticking with the .25 and I would go for the os fx over all others. I could only get my norvels to last about 1 1/2 combat seasons before they started falling on their face. My os run...

RE: I'm trying to join 2 carbon fiber rods. Help!

I did a quick search and couldn't find any cf rods with 1/4" ID and titanium is too pricey.

Would it be possible to make my own tube out of CF tow or weave? My first attempt was wrapping and I...

Scratch building an EPP DSer. Got a few Q's

I've just finished cutting my cores and my TE are drying as we speak (or type).

It's a 60" plank wing using an MH45 airfoil and it looks like a Hershey bar right now. I've also made a little...
