RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Oh, and I believe I was swinging a 6x4 prop or something close. Maybe 6x5 which is why I needed the larger ESC and burley Lipo. Nowadays with the higher C ratings, I think there's way more...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Wow, I've been out of the Stryker scene for a while but after reading all these posts, I may have to pull out the old spare fuse and get it going. It's been at least 3 years since my Stryker days. ...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

What can I say...You're good because that's were the setup came from. It works nicely in the Stryker. I decided to ditch the traditional motor mounting system in favor of the Concrusher method. I...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Hey guys...it's been a while since I've put a Stryker together but I had two bare fuses laying around so I decided to get back into Strykers. Here's what I have planned:

Mega 16/15/4
Pheonix...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Depron,

Yes, that would be a Mega 16/15/4. The only bad thing about Reno is the altitude but I dont know any better so I guess it's all relative.

Oh, and FoamCrusher is right, the if I can...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

DepronHog,

Obviously, your LHS sells Himax. If you do some research, you will find that the most reliable and most well balanced setup is as follows:

Mega 16/14/4
CC Pheonix 25 or 35

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

You should try a TP 3S 2100 lipo pack. It's only 11.1v compared to your 12v 10 cell but it's way lighter and makes those vertical shots crazy fast. It would be nice to have a quick charging 10 cell...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Whew, I thought I was missing something. You'll have plenty of ESC with that CC60. You're right, just make sure you don't make expensive balloons out of your packs. Keep us posted.

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

a 6 amp esc? Is that a typo or am I missing something? I run a CC 35 amp speed control but I've heard you can use a CC 25 amp speed control with a 6x4 APC prop. Isn't a 6 amp ESC a bit small?

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

rino,

I ended up using an APC 6x4. The 6x5 Aero Glass kept cutting out after a few seconds on full throttle. I think the CC 35 was doing its job and cutting out the motor when it drew too many...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Mrfixit,

You will be fine dual rates. That is what I did before I figured out how to set my expo. In fact, I dont use my expo all the time. Most of the time I just use the shortened throw...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

She flew AWSOME especially with expo. The thing rolled like a drill but only when I cranked it.

The elevons are pre-made balsa that measures approximately 1 3/4" wide so I had to trim around...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Toomunsch,

I finished the 16/15/4 setup yesterday but it was snowing today so I haven't had a chance to fly it. It doesn't have as much thrust as the 16/25/4 setup BUT it is MUCH lighter. It...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

I want it to be as light as possible mainly for handling purposes. My previous setup was a fat pig and it had pretty lousy glide characteristics. I have a Concrusher on the way which will feed my...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

rino,

Yes, a 7x6 might be a little much for the 3S1P so I may just go with a 6x5. As for the elevons, I use 1 3/4" wide balsa premade ailerons from my LHS. My servos are HS81's and have worked...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Well, it's official...my new setup will be a Mega 16/15/4, CC 35 ESC, TP 3S1P, APC 7x5 or Aero Glass 6x5. I took out the Stryker yesterday in 25 mph winds and during my landing approach, a tree...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

rino,

The setup I currently have in my Stryker is the following:

Mega 16/25/4
CC 35
TP 4S1P 2100
HS88 servos
1 3/4" wide balsa Elevons (a bit overkill)

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Foamcrusher,

Fixed the motor mount angle problem. I used a piece of the elevon balsa and placed it under the top motor mount. The angle looked perfect. Now it looks level as can be. Too...

Thanks for the engine mount detail. I will check it out. I can easily place a washer or two on the high side to compensate. I forgot to mention that I put in a carbon fiber spar across the bottom...
