RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Eh, it's just a foamy, but I thought it was strange. Two different ones in a week?

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Has anyone else seen the nose just blow up on the Byp Yak? At the Chitty 3D contest a guy there just had the nose blow up into several pieces, ripping the motor out. I thought it was weird, until a...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

That would be a big NO. While it is one of the most capable 3D aerobats out there, it is designed to be as light as possible, and is fairly fragile. Find a more durable plane to be your first 3D. I'd...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Since I've gotten my Fancy Foam Xcalibur flying, I haven't flown the Byp Yak at all. Hope I don't get in trouble for this, but if you thought the Byp Yak was a great plane you have to try th e...

I've always said Bipe, as in the first part of Byplane-Yak.

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

I have mine angled. It might help, and it can't hurt.

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Best way to get rid of that twist is to take the aileron off and use a heat gun or iron on a low setting to flatten it out. That likely is your problem right there.

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Hmm....I noticed with mine that the little bit of roll coupling it has was reduced when I added the wheel pants...I'm just trying to think of what it could be...?

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

One other thing I just thought of. Check the wings. Make sure you didn't warp them any when you installed the carbon.

Wait, one more. Are you flying with the LG or not, and if so, with or...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Hmmm...that's odd. I'd definately double check the tail for straighness. Is it rolling to the top or to the belly?

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Hmm.. I fly mine without the washers fine. Hands off KE in both directions. I'd suggest trying a lighter battery. What prop are you using? I noticed it got a WHOLE lot easier to KE when I went up...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

When I slow mine way down it tends to roll a bit, but if you have any speed at all its hands off. Do you have any twist in the tail, and are your ailerons level?

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

The voting for the Flying Giants Video Contest begins this week. I'll post a link to it and would appreciate your vote! I've got some great Byp Yak flying in it, though the camea angles aren't great....

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

You can reprogram your ESC to soft cutoff, so that that way it won't just die on you, but until then you're going to have to wait on the TP 730.

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

I've got a Rimfire and a TP 730. Used to use a Dualsky pack till it went kaput that was a quarter ounce lighter. AUW is about 11.5, with ok vertical climb outdoors, and too much for indoors. Hovers...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

I should have some video of my Byp Yak soon. I submitted it for the Flying Giantstyle Video Contest on flyinggiants.com, so once voting starts this weekend, you can watchi it and I'd appreciate your...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Yup, it's the battery. It just can't put out enough amps. Get a TP 730 and you'll be fine.

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

That motor looks good. Maybe a hair on the weak side just because it is lower quality than an AXI or other, but it should work fine.

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

I've noticed a similar thing with my Byp Yak. Left wing down it will KE forever. Right wing down it tends to drift a bit, not bad. Not sure why, and it's not consistant either, seems to pitch back...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

I honestly think the Byp-Yak is one of the strongest foamies I've owned. It flies so slowly that it's hard to crash hard enough to damage it. Even without a carbon LE, I broke the fuselage in half...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

That equipment will work. Will put it on the heavy side, about 14-15 oz, but it will still fly fine. This is really a great plane. Have fun with it!

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

I built mine by the manual and it was fine. My only suggestion is to pry up the slots on the wings for the carbon bracing that are attatched to tape and reglue them on the foam. Also, run some...

RE: E-Flite BYP-YAK by QQ

Well, fudge. I love how this thing flew, best foamy ever. But....it died. I was flying it at a friends house out in the country. Started off great, came out of a rolling harrier and went into a 45*...
