I keep forgetting how big the hunter is. The length gives no indication to the size - that is for sure.

How full did you fill the gearbox? I have found my MHZ boxes leak/weap oil when not running...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

What filler are you using Mike? I would either block it off or use another filler.

IV bags must not be vented. Any air in the bag will shorten the life of the bag (long term) and cause you to...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

Those look to be the ones (Engine Kill failsafes).

You may want to see how the boat balances out to make a determination as to where to locate the IV's. A single IV will be a lot easier to...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

The engine kill failsafes will actually kill the coil if there is any disconnect with the radio. If your battery disconnects in the boat for example - the engine kill will shut it down (Uses power...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

Hi Mike

Indeed the red area above the drives (parallel to the water). It is very much out of sight there and not really going to compromise the hull from a strength standpoint.

I cannot...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

Hi Mike,

I think your transom should be high enough to keep clear of water entry. Phils Hunter with a heavyweight QD70 had a few inches clearance at the transom and was using S6's and a transom...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

Hi Mike,

I am sure you dont have to use a sail servo for the drive trim. I believe there is a modification you can do to the potentiometer in a standard servo that will allow them to continue to...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

May have been a bit of a wild goose chase with those names - Jerone Tune pipes (made the pipes for the Geico cat) and Cooper pipes. Not sure Jerone/Jerome (he goes by both) has a site but I heard...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

Hi Mike,

You would not get 30 minutes out of 500ml I would not imagine - that is a long run You may find the 1000ml is on the small side but I would not go any bigger (easy to upgrade though dont...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

Hi Mike,

I can sympathize with your quandry. I like the idea of a smooth pivoting hatch over the idea of having to stow it somewhere whenever the motor is accessed. Though having the hatch looming...

Hi Mike,

I believe he used a fine scroll saw blade. I will quiz him next time I talk with him but pretty sure that was the trick. Slow going but not one of those spots where you can redo.

RE: Hunter Twin Build

You might want to call Dr. Who and double check that one. Hull would weigh around 18-20 pounds - box would be another 10 pounds (with all the "found" packaging he will use).

If it is a 12 pound...

RE: Hunter Twin Build

You will have plenty of room to work in the hunter. You could experiment with copper fittings to try some different options. Just make sure you use silver solder or braze the pieces together -...

You can see the water fitting on the bottom of the transom manifold below. I dont currently have the water lines routed - it is one of those jobs I have to get to before spring.

I have not had...
