Default Simjet website update

Noticed that the Simjet website has been updated. Can you elaborate on what they have accomplished and the whether the products are available and pricing.

Default SimJet Update

There have been a number of changes happening at Simjet. They have been working hard to improve the product and respond to input from their world wide dealers.

The changes include:

1)IR Terminal – The infra-red handheld data terminal is now available. The terminal displays the battery voltage, pump voltage, engine RPM, EGT, LED status, and engine status in text format. A second menu displays the total run time, ECU software version and number of cycles. It does all this wirelessly up to 18 ft(6 metres) away. It will also allow you to derate engine thrust in three steps and adjust glow plug settings in three steps as well. The final two items can only be done using an included interface cable. All engines shipped from November 15th on are IR ready. All engines shipped previously will require an ECU software update and new ECU cable to use the IR Terminal.

2)Flight Works Pump – SimJet is switching from the Hausl pump to the Flight works turbine pump. By the end of the 2002, all SimJet engines will be shipped with the Flight Works pump. The Flight Works pump is a more robust and durable pump utilizing stainless steel gears and a hard anodized aluminum housing. This will ensure a long life and consistent pump output. All SimJet 1200s are currently being shipped with the Flight Works pump.

3)1700SP – SimJet has introduced a new version of its’ very successful 1700 engine. The 1700SP puts out 20lbs of thrust and still provides the same fuel consumption of the original 1700.

4)1200L – A new version of the 1200 that is an addition to the current 1200AES and 1200M versions. The 1200L or Light is a manual air start version of the 1200. It comes with a new light weight ECU and battery. There are no solenoid valves or electric starter included. This version is almost a full pound lighter that the AES version and still provides the same great performance. Look for this version to be available by the end of first quarter 2003.

5)SimJet 700 – Unfortunately, the release of the 700 has been delayed until February 2003. The main cause for the delay is component delays from a major sub-supplier. SimJet has been working diligently to get the sub-supplier issues resolved. They apologize to all those who have been disappointed awaiting the release of the 700.

All SimJet products are currently available and we have all engines in stock. The IR terminals will arrive next week and will be available for shipment the following week. If you have any questions regarding SimJet products or pricing, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.greatnorthernmodels.com.

Sincerely,
Ed

Default Cost?

Hello Ed,

What is the cost of the IR data terminal setup?

Does this new ECU have the same awesome spool up time?

What max RPM/thrust would be programmed into this IR ECU and expected in my motor?

I was told my 2002 D-1 ECU -sticker code "487" is set at 123K.

( 3000AES "Dragon" at sea level , 70 deg F , 29.92"HG, dry air)

I do not want to loose any more RPM/thrust changing to the IR/ECU setup.

Thanks,

Jake Bruckler

Default IR Terminal Prices

Hi Jake

Sorry for the delay, I've been a bit busy the last week and a half. The prices are as follows:

IR Handheld Terminal: Includes terminal, one onboard IR transceiver, connection cable and instructions.
$245

IR Transceiver: If you have more than one aircraft with a SimJet turbine.
$75 (was$110)

Y-Harness: Y-harness to replace existing Cockpit display harness(required for IR Handheld)
$45

IR Handheld/Y-Harness Combo
$275

There will be an upgrade pack available that is to include a download cable, software and the handheld. It's target price is around $295. I haven't received one yet, so I can't comment more on it till I try it out.

I will work out a complete conversion pack once I try out the conversion software. In the meantime, you can send your ECU into us and we'll upgrade it for the price of return shipping.

The New ECU software retains the same "awesome" spool up time and will retain or give you a little added boost in the thrust department.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Ed
