fast peak charging a Futaba 6DA
#1
I use a Hobbico QuickPeak fast field charger to regularly charge my transmitter, which is a Futaba 6DA. I do not remove the battery from the transmitter. I just plug the fast charger directly into the charge jack.
This charger uses delta V peak detection. I've read where the diode that exists in some Futaba radios can cause problems with this type of charger. My manual says nothing about a diode.
Does the 6DA have a diode? Am I harming the battery by fast peak charging it directly through the charging jack?
thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,
You should not have any problems doing this. But it is recommended to cycle the battery once in a while. This must be done outside of the transmitter as your transmitter is "diode protected".
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
Sincerely,
