Help, Tips needed for holding a Funfly

Hi All,
Wasn't sure where to post this so I figured here was as good a place as any.
My club is holding the first Funfly that it has held in years. I've only been a member for a couple of years, but I am one of the people in charge of making it happen.
I've gotten the word out to many nearby clubs, but I know that there are many things I haven't considered. Radio impound, rules governing and safety are the highest priority on my list. Does anyone have any links that describe preparations for funflys, tips for having one, etc.
Thanks,
Paul D. in PA

you got the word out thats a start, funflyers are a pretty fun loving bunch, so you don't need much, a few fun events, a burgar bar ( makes the club some money
) are about it.. you need a couple of guys that arnt gonna fly that know enough to judge the varios events. have a look at our club site www.rcflyers.net for our fly for funs and the events we have

Include activities/events for the youngsters that attend. $1.99 Balsa Gliders or something like that, or the more durable "foam type" available from the -Mart stores.
It's also been recommended that portions of the proceeds be given to your community for futher exposure and recognition.
Good luck, and remember it's a FUN fly so have FUN!

Remember to keep it FUN. Too many people running a contest get way to serious and make it a day of work instead of play. Keep everything as simple as you can, and your safety rusle to AMA requirements plus whatever your club adds as particulars. Don't attempt to use every minute for contest events, leave breaks in time for event changes, b-essing, lunch, and general socializing.
Radio impound and frequency control is a must!!!
The lunch and raffles are great ideas. Look to your local hobby shop for raffle ideas. Good advertising for him, and increases turnout.

Keep things moving quickly. You might consider tying two or three events together. For example: Three loops, three rolls, three spins and a spot landing. Time starts when the wheels leave the ground, manuvers are completed, and time stops when wheels touch down at landing. Additionally, the landing was to take place in close proximity to a spot such as an target on the runway. Fastest time on the first event, and closest to the mark for a second event, all in one event.
Funflys can take all day if the pace is not moving well. Have the next two competitors due for their turns ready to go, maybe even engine running. Lots of time is wasted while the pilot readys his plane (watch the frequencies if you want them engine running)

Wanted to thank you all for the responses to my initial message. Many of the suggestions you made were followed at the Funfly and made for a great day. People enjoyed themselves, the weather was awesome and the Funfly went great.
Thanks again,

I wanted to thank you all again for the help on the FunFly. I finally got around to doing up a webpage on the Event. The link to the photo section of the webpage is:
http://www.pennswoods.net/~rutanman/2003FunFly1.htm
and a description of the FunFly(under Past Events) at:

Thanks again,
