Default New service proposed by Ultimate Jets: MIL spec looms.

Hi everyone.
I am trying a new service for our customers: the creation of custom specced MIL spec loom for our kits.
I have started with the Scorpion Mk2. I will only propose this aircraft initially to see if customers are satisfied with the service. If it works and there is a demand for it, I will expand the option to all the other kits we sell.

Here is a description of the loom:

Professionally built loom using the best MIL supply available on the market. The loom is at the correct length and is a drop fit into the fuselage/ wings/ fins. The only thing required to do is to glue the loom clamps and install the wrap-around heat insulation sleeve on the main loom.

It features the following:

High quality AWG 20 silicon servo wires.

Custom crimped JR, Polarized latched plugs, EWC3 and EWC6 gold plated plugs.

All weldings are using MIL silver tin wire

Servo and EWC terminal cables protected with our MIL spec glass fiber expandable mesh sleeve and MIL spec heat shrink.

Very high quality MIL spec wrap-around heat protective sleeve included for the main loom.

Ultimate Jets custom carbon/ resin clips included.

1/2" and 1"adjustable loop clamps included.

All cables are labeled on the receiver side.

The following items are included:

8 wires for the main fuselage loom, soldered to EWC3 and EWC6 terminals, with JR plugs on the receiver side and labeled.

4 wires for the left and right wings, soldered to EWC 6 terminals and labeled with JR plugs on the servo side.

2 wires for the left and right rudder, soldered to EWC 3 terminals with JR plugs on the servo side.

2 MIL spec wrap-around sleeves of 3 feet long.

2 adjustable loom clamps, 1/2".

6 adjustable loom clamps, 1".

6 Ultimate Jets flat loom claps for 2 cables

2 Ultimate Jets servo wires organizer clips.

The loom can be ordered in size short, medium or long.

Short size is for compact 12 channels receivers that are fitted at the back of the accessory tray.

Medium size is 10 cm/ 4' longer for fitting a receiver at the middle of the tray.

Long size is 25 cm/ 8" longer for fitting a powerbox system in front of the accessory tray, above the nose gear strut.

For pictures and a pricing, please refer to the web site:

PLease let me know what you think about this service.

Very nice Oli.
Its very time consuming making the wire harness and having a premade one would be great. Looks high quality and very well made.

Thanks guys. I have made a countless number of professional looms for aircraft, UAV, race cars and models. So I am quite confident that the product will match the highest expectations. Also I am using some of the best components available on the market for these looms.

So these harnesses are called "looms"? Never heard of this term.

Before dental school, I worked in a car plant installing the wire looms in the firewall of toyota trucks.... UGHHHHH.. Boeing has whole departments doing "wire design" just to figure this mess out.

I saw your price, I think its very fair for what you are providing.

CAI used to do this, my Raptor has a full loom in it and it's awesome. With ends labeled its a great way to do a really clean install for sure.

Wiring looms, std aviation term. In my experience, I've found short point to point runs are harnesses, longer run's of a larger number of wires are referred to as looms.

Interesting service Oli, I hope all the best to you guys with dragging the modelling community up to full size standards

Thanks

dave

Thanks Dave. It is exactly the purpose of our company. While trying to keep fair prices.
As you probably have seen, we are carrying more and more full size aviation/ MIL items 100% made in the USA.
Like these twisting wire pliers that I absolutely love:

Have a look at the nose of the plier:

and the reversible screw system:

Oli I have those in my toolbox right now for fullscale and the best part about those is the rubber part at the end holds the pigtail after you cut it. So you dont have to go looking for what you cut off after it falls down into the model some where

I think it could be a real time saver for a builder. I've been in several aircraft plants and they all had a loom department. Usually looks like a big piece of plywood with a bunch of wooden dowels. Then a conciencious worker strings the "spaghetti bowl" of wires to all the termination points and plugs.

Great idea! added the website to favorites.<br type="_moz" />

Absolutely. I love this tool for the polymer wire catcher as well...

I have re-worked and improved the Scorpion MkII loom.
The main fuselage loom is now fully inluded in the MIL spec wrap around.
Here is a picture of the main fuselage loom. It connects the receiver to: the EWC6 plug ( aileron and flaps ), EWC 3 plug ( rudder ) and JR plug ( stabilizer ).
The loom is pre-inserted in our MIL spec wrap-around sleeve and sealed with ballistic grade heat shrink fabric tube. The wrap-around sleeve is serviceable and the position of the splice and servo terminal can be adjusted.
Two of these are supplied. One left, one right. All labelled with the proper side. The right loom is longer as it has to meet the receiver that should be placed on the left side of the nose tray.

On the receiver side of the main loom, all the JR plugs are labeled with industrial grade printed heat shrink.

The rear end of the loom, which passes in the thrust tube area, is protected with 2500F grade glass fiber sleeve. The stabilizer plug is labelled as well.

The EWC6 side with the wrap around sleeve that comes to the plug.

The wing loom is simple and short. One EWC 6 male plug, 2 female JR plugs. The servo plugs are labelled. Two of these are supplied.

The fin loom is even simpler. One EWC 3 and one JR female plug. Two of these are supplied.
