If I have a Rx originally on ch 28 and want to switch it to a different channel can I just swap crystals or does the RX need to be re-tuned with the new one?

Ok..I read that as long as you stay within the lower or higher band of channels, you dont need to have the RX retuned. So for example if I want to switch from channel 28 to channel 11 I can just swap crystals without having to retune the RX. Just want to confirm if Im understanding this correctly.
Thanks

Yes, the Rx...(just like the Tx for that matter) are "middle-tuned". That means they hook up a "high-band" RX to the oscilloscope and tune it for channel 48 and hook up the "low-band" RX and tune them for channel 20. Anywhere between 36-60 for the high-band and anywhere from 11-35 for the low band.
And, if you choose 20 or 48 then your tune should be "exact". The further you move away from those numbers the less precious the tune will be --- but within tolerance.
Thats the scientific facts...now the law...I have no idea about.
Edited to correct math.

No, if you have a low band tx and low band rx, then you need a low band crystal, channel 11-35. If you have a high band tx, then you need a high band crystal, channel 36-60.
My understanding is you do not need to tune the rx. If you do, its better. The tx is a different issue.
Theoretically, you should be just replacing the broken/defective crystal.

NOTE: IMHO, this fact alone makes it important to me to not to switch brands of Xtals between RXs.
