Ok, so I have been reading a ton of garbage on Nitro Exhaust setups and having little luck with my certain question, I figure this to be the best place to ask..So here goes...
After having a ton of bad luck drifting with an oily rear tire from my side exit exhaust. I went to the Hobby shop and talked to them about the issue and possible fixes. They recommended a rubber tubing they had, I forget the diameter, but it was just big enough to fit on the exhausts "nipple/blowhole". Once I had it routed to the back, of course it stuck out too far for the body to go on. I decided to rotate the blowhole to the top and it fixed the body mounting woes.
I am curious if this will have an adverse effect on how my motor performs in the long run and if it will effect life...
I've not noticed a difference since doing this, but I am no expert, I have random stalls after it sits a while, but a few restarts and it runs like a champ then on, until it sits again lol...any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance!

Your talking about the exhaust deflector right. Like the green thing on pic below. It does something to your low/high end? the longer ur stinger is or something like that, but nothing too major. Ive used mine for a while now, lately i dont use it because it makes the exhaust noises sound funny. Aslong as the diameter is the same as the pipe, the flow shouldnt be restrictive
If your into drifting maybe you should get a stage-d kit, i know its expensive but it does make a difference. You can make stage-d kits with full rear exhaust (very bottom pic)

Yea, thats basically the stuff I'm using in the second picture.... Any thoughts on turning the nipple to sit on top instead of blowing out the side, then routing the hose to the rear?
Here is how mine is mounted, can actually see what I mean about moving it to the top...

I would say it would effect performance, yes. However, an engine this small greatly relies on whats called "backpressure" so doing something like that could hinder performance rather than gain anything from it, might sound meaner, but that will just make you think its performing better...
The question I have is does the placement of the nipple/blowhole matter? Everything I have seen pumps it out the side of the canister, does putting it on top of bottom of the canister effect the way it works?
I know that the oil from the fumes wont exit it as easy if its on the top compared to it easily draining on the bottom side and I figure inbetween is where it most effectivly exits....since they have it there stock...

dont bother the stinger at all, thats palying with something you dont understand
no, the nipple can be mounted on the top, bottom, side, its all the same pressure (think about it) i have seena nd owned pipes that ahve them come out of the side

Thanks Apollo... I thought you might chime in on this with some good info.... I am fairly new to the hobby and everything I have seen the nipple exits the side, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't made to exit on the side for performance reasons.. Sometimes there is an oily dicharge(hahahaha) from the exhaust in stock form, but it still does it with my current setup so I guess its all good...
Thanks for the info though....

I dont think its a good idea to mount the exhaust upwards. Oil will build up at the exhaust itself. It is recommended the it points downwards at least 30degrees
If it works for you then no prolemo then

Thanks for the thread link apollo, I will try to memorize it the best I can. The exhaust generally only throws oil on colder days, but I am running the tune HPI says after the breakin is over... Have never played with it much so I guess its time to try..
hellsgod, thanks also for the info... I suppose that its fine though as it still makes it to the end of my exhaust. I'd say there is too much pressure inside the canister for it not to push it out the stinger in any position...
