no, not worth it. 4-tec is heavy and cannot handle, i own one and never play with it, FAST AS HELL but can't turn at all, useless. invest it in either a hpi nitro rs43 ss, nitro tc3, or w/e, just stay away from the 4-tec, other traxxas vehicles such as the t-maxx, e-maxx, rustler, are okay, but not the 4-tec.

asing - the 4tec is sold at my LHS for 309.00USD.
Personally, i would recommend against it. If you plan on racing, stick with the Team Associated NTC3, or some of the other highline racers such as the serpent, trinity, or mugen. The HPI is also a competent basher, not in the same league as the NTC3, but much better than the 4tec

You already heard it from others and here is one more. Not the 4-tec. I have driven many cars and owned many too. The 4-tec was one which sat on the shelf a lot until it was given (charity) away.

No the R40 is a direct competitor to the NTC3, 705 TC class.
Its supposed to have all the "low CG" features and all that. A member here actually bought one and he seemed satisfied.
But I'd like to see a Type SS vs R40 vs NTC3 Shootout

I raced last weekend. The race (bying for the lead) were between an ntc3, v1r, and r40. It seems that the r40 handled well in the straights and 90 degree turns but in the hair pin (180 degrees) and hole shots out of the turn, it was lacking the stability/handling. Could be a lot of factors like setup, engine tuning, driver, etc. In the end it was the ntc3 (bummer for the v1r. the v1r was me [
]) that took the race.
I normally don't say this about HPI but, all in all, I was impressed with the r40.
