I have a 3.2 twin that I am having problems with: If takes forever to prime, then with the needles set it will start run about 1-2 sec and die. It you mess around with the needle settings and set the low end a 3 turns out and the high end at 1-3/4 turns it will start with a high throttle setting and run rich on the top end and die as soon as you pull the throttle down. If you try to set the high end so it’s not rich you have to turn the needle in to about 1 turn out, but it will die as soon as you pull back on the throttle. I have replaced all the fuel line, replaced all the gaskets between the carb, reed block and case. I have replaced everything in the carb 2 times just in case anything in the first rebuild kit was bad. (Also everything in the carb was replaced midsummer last year and worked fine till I sent the engine back to have the crank replaced in November. I do not see any crap in the carb and have blown the carb out and sprayed cleaner through all the jets and nothing looks plugged. Any ideals what else it could be???? I paid a lot of $$$ for this engine and just paid $150 to have the crank replaced and would like to get it running.
Thanks,
Charles

It's an S&S engine. The reeds and block look good, anything special I should look for? Have not taken the case apart to look for leaks, but do not see anything that would make me think it has a leak. Have not went with a different carb yet, wanted to check out all the other things before I put the $$$ into a new carb just to find out I missed something small.
Thanks,
Charles

Since crank replacement requires breaking all the case joints open, I'd definately be checking for leaks there first. Carb block too, of course. Check that the pulse port thru the crankcase, carb block and into the diaphragm is clear. Could be some gasket maker in there or something.
Is compression "normal", as in does it feel like it always did?
Why was the crank replaced?

Pulse port is clear is all clear. That was my first thought when it would not pull the fuel right.
Compression is "normal" like it had.
I am sure if I can get to to draw fuel right, all will be oK. Kind I strange at it will draw fuel and run wide open but not have enough fuel at idle.
The crank was bent and need replaced and new bearings and seals instaled.

You can get a new carb from [ecedwards_tools]from ebay for around $12.00.I have a half dozen right now for engines from 45cc up to 62cc.what are the numbers on your carb. Also, does your carb have 2 fuel nipples and if it does is one closed off.Or if theres one closed off does it have a piece of tygon with a bolt or screw stuck in it.Check the crank seals and make sure theres no crack or little piece or anything missing as somtimes they tear when they go back together. If you put your finger over the intake of carb and turn engine over does it suck any fuel into the line or carb at all? When it does run do you see bubbles in the fuel line or does the fuel run completely out of the line, meaning the line goes dry.

Carb # is WT76A
Only 1 nipple
If I put my finger over the intake it pull fuel GREAT.
No bubbles in the line while it runs.
Yes when you pull it down to idle, the line goes dry.

Replace the diaphragm. The rebuild kit for your carb runs about $10.00 at a saw shop. Same one does the WT 201 carb.

Good, that should do the trick. It might be the needle and seat or the 2 flapper valves on the other side under the cover with a single screw.Open both needles 2 turns out to start. Then adjust.
