I've got the above mentioned esc. It can handle 13 and above motors and 4-7 cells 4.8-8.4 volt. I asked Associated this and they told me no. I want to run a 2s 7.4v lipo and they say I cant. Can someone explain why I cant run it?? I just figured since the 2s would be 7.4v it would be ok and you could just add a external LVC.

it probably does not have an LVC built in, so they don't want to take liability if you over discharge your lipo and ruin it.

maybe the motor will pull too many amps through the ESC? That NiMH wouldn't be able to supply, so it wouldn't be a problem, but with lipo the motor has all the current available it wants. I dunno, those are the only 2 things I could think of that would cause problems

Correct... It does not have a LVC BUT... associated sells a stand alone [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPGM8&P=ML]LVC[/link] I was going to buy and add in between the esc and lipo that should take care of any over discharging. Any other reason why I cant run a 2s as long as I stay under the voltage the esc can handle??

There is absolutely no reason why you can't use a lipo with the AI series. I do it all the time and don't use a LVC. I time my runs, like I do with my helis. A LVC is recommended though just in case.

Thanks for the info Druss.... So you think it be no problem then to use a lipo with the AI esc?? I do plan to get the LVC just to be on the safe side... As for the voltage as long as I dont go over the 8.4v that the esc can handle I'll be ok correct?

Well finally got AI to tell me why I cant run a lipo with the AI super reverse esc. The problem boils down to no built in LVC. Funny they sell a LVC but didnt mention I could use lipos as long as I had an external LVC hooked up. I think they thought I'd buy a new esc since they told me I couldnt us lipos with the esc. Well after 3 days of mailing CS and me telling them what I thought they broke down and told me as long as I use an LVC and not go over the 8.4v I'd be fine. Funny how that you have to hound some people before they tell you truth
