I can't wait to try the Kyosho RT5. I've heard it has the traction of the XXX-T, with a steering of the T4, and is really stable also!

Parts quality and fit and finish is great. RCtech forums has given the truck a huge thumbs up on quality and durability. I was running a MF2 and felt like it was time to switch. I have not had it on the track yet, but on a bumpy off road surface it is amazing. The stock set-up stays planted through the ruts. Many racers have stiffened up the stock front springs to eliminate dipping in corners. Take a gander of there at rctech.net for more info. I get to race it this weekend!! I will be the 3rd person with the K truck at our track. Should be fun.

My RT5 had its first outing last night at the RC Barn in Jefferson City Mo. I struggled all night with personal errors both in my buggy (bad servo, loose ball studs, hung brush,) and in my RT5 (bad driving and poorly glued tires). Once I worked out all the physical problems with the truck (and buggy) it was a blast to drive. The rear stays glued to the track and the truck just feels smooth. Jumps well, although attitude is different than my MF2 and I was struggling with that all night (driver error, not the trucks fault). The truck never felt out of control once I had decently glued tires. I did not really test its durability as I do not push the limits, but I did one cartwheel in practice and nose planted one jump. No damage and everything stayed tight and together. I LOVE THE QUICK CHANGE WHEELS! I know it is not that important, but they sure make life easy, especially when you are having wheel problems. The track owner also runs an RT5 and he took pity on my and loaned me a set of wheels and in 10 seconds (most of which was walking to my pit area) I was ready to go. I can't say enough good things about the truck and I hope to be a little more in the zone next time out. I was very tired and not on top of things. I did end up winning sportsman truck (with a B4) and I wasn't last in expert truck in my RT5. This was only my second time in expert truck. My goal was to not get lapped and I think I was pretty close in the final, despite a horrendous start. It was one of those nights racing where if it could go wrong it did. I still had a great time and I love my new truck.

It does have the usual motor guard on the back. I use Amainhobbies for parts and I think stormer hobbies may have them as well.

My next offroad kit will be one of these trucks, I like my e-firestorm but maybe next year might be time to try something else.
Since Tebo went to kyosho many guys at my track have already switched from AE to Kyosho.
So I'm not the only Tebo fan apparently.

Hey What was included in your RT5 kit? wheels? tires? motor?

is the steering (pin/gear) included too? the one that joins the steering to the servo?

No tires, just wheels. No motor/electronics. You do get a collection of servo horns to fit different servos. You need a motor/esc, battery, servo and tires to complete the kit. The kit is awesome however.

I did have some trouble dropping three bills on a toy car W/O electronics, but the kit is really nice. The diff is super smooth and the parts fit and quality is very nice. Some good engineering went into the design of this truck. Very easy to work on. The rear comes off with very little trouble. The quick change wheels are very convenient for many reasons. I certainly like it better than the T4 and my MF2. Simple things like the quality of the screws is nice as well. I didn't strip a single thing in my RT5 during the build and that was using the L wrenches supplied by the kit. The only thing I don't care for is the turnbuckle design. Nothing wrong with them and they seem plenty strong, I just don't like the part where you use a wrench to adjust them. It is very thin. A wider section would be easier to get the turnbuckle wrench on.

Hope you enjoy yours too!

Is it an 8 hour build like most kits? The longer the better I like taking my sweet time.

Not really an 8 hour build. I built mine over three nights, at max 2 hrs per night. I wasn't in a hurry. Everything is just so easy to do on the build. The shocks are easy, the diff is easy the hardest thing is turnbuckles. It's only a 2wd car so there are not that many pieces to put together. I did spend a lot of time trimming the burrs off of plastic from parts trees.

I got to race again tonight. Only two rounds and I had to leave for home since I had my 5 year old son with me. (They start racing at his bed time) I tried a gearing suggested on another forum and it was not good. Using a Novak 13.5 I tried a 78t spur and 23t pinion. I had no power to pop over some the small doubles on the track. I went back to the stock 82 and 25t pinion and that was better. I had a couple of hot laps and I was happy. With some more track time I will have this thing down! I did figure out how to jump it better tonight and it was amazing. Good times!
