Hey Bob, I've got your optical kill switch in my plane and I'm learning a few things as I go. One thing is that I can only check my ignition battery voltage with the kill switch on. This is fine, assuming I do have it wired correctly. My question is, do I have to bother with turning the charge switch that is mounted on the plane OFF after I'm done flying? It doesn't appear that there is any power coming from the ignition battery with the kill switch in the off position. I hope you understand what I'm saying. The optical kill is OFF and the original charge switch is ON. Is the battery connected to anything like this? I love your stuff,

Hi Todd,
I kind of understand what you are saying but you may have the wiring a little off. You should have things hooked up as follows: Battery->Switch->(regualtor)->Cutoff->Igntion. I am not sure if you are running NiXX or lithium batteries so I put the regulator in there if you are running lithiums.

If you have the Cutoff between the battery and your mechanical switch then the Cutoff will turn off your ignition but it will also draw a small amount of current and if you left it connected for a long time it could run your battery down too low.

Hey Bob, I may have it wired wrong, I can't remember. I was in a hurry to get it going and all I can remeber is that it works correctly. You did answer my question and now I know I can leave the battery switched on between flights and turn it off at the end of the day. It's a NMH battery. Thanks,
