Turbo Reg problem.

I think a may have made a mistake trying to charge 2 Fromenco 7.4 Lithium Ions through my Turbo Reg that I just got.Yes I did read the warnings, but I mistakenly assumed my Accu-Cycle Elite would be ok to do the job.It seemed to be chargeing both alright for a few minutes and then one side shut down .The fail safe switch got hot and so I shut down the charger.
So now when I fire everything up,it all appears to work ok except the output voltage is only 4.8 and I can't get it any higher. The fan will slow down and speed up when you adjust it but the output appears the same.Is my regulator toast? Why can't a list of suitable chargers be made available for dual charging. Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,
I would love to have a list of chargers that will handle dual batteries with common ground but we cannot buy everyone out there to test. We also are not getting much feedback on which chargers work and which don't. If I can figure out a way to get some input on this I would make up a list. I will see what I can do. Let me know if you have any other questions.

1 charger that I know for sure will work charging 2 batteries with common ground is the HughesRC Spectra 4. I also believe the Fromeco Cube will do it. I have a turbo reg with sport expander and the reason I purchaced the Spectra 4 was because it can charge this system setup with no problems.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I tried to click on the "Contact Us" link on the HughesRC page but got an error. Do you have an e-mail for them? I would like to ask them directly.

Thanks for the heads-up Robert. We'll check the website.

Felker is correct, you won't have any common ground problems. We use high-side current sensing to eliminate the problem.
