Default New Build

Hi,

I have a boat shell on back order with Hobby King. It is a Hobbyking vanquish brushless V hull 1075cm. The site says "The Vanquish is a large (1.075mtr) V-Hull fiberglass racing boat kit ready for your own choice of EP setup. All quality hardware is supplied including a water jacket for the motor and cooling system tubing. You will require a36xx size <span onclick="window.open('tips.asp?idtip=21','Tooltip2 1','menubar=1,resizable=1,width=450,height=250');" style="cursor: pointer; border-bottom: #0f0 1px dotted; text-decoration: none">brushless</span> inrunner motor around 2200<span onclick="window.open('tips.asp?idtip=2','Tooltip2' ,'menubar=1,resizable=1,width=450,height=250');" style="cursor: pointer; border-bottom: #0f0 1px dotted; text-decoration: none">kv</span>, a Standard size servo with 3kg or more of torque, a 125A to180A Water cooled <span onclick="window.open('tips.asp?idtip=3','Tooltip3' ,'menubar=1,resizable=1,width=450,height=250');" style="cursor: pointer; border-bottom: #0f0 1px dotted; text-decoration: none">ESC</span>m,a 2 Channel radio system and either two 2s~3s 5000mAh batteries or a single 4s~6s 5000mAh battery".

What would you suggest would be my best set up from the parts listed below? I have a couple of Turnigy 5000 mah 4 cell 14.8v batteries that I would like to utilise if I can. I am a bit confused about all the ESC sizes etc. They dont seem to list the motor that they recommend. Any alternatives?

Thanks greg<font face="Verdana" color="#ffffff" size="2">bbyKing Vanquish Brushless V-Hull R/C Boat - 1075mm (KIT)</font>

Default RE: New Build

Leopard 4074 2000kv motor will rip in that boat, either a Swordfish200 or Turnigy180 esc. This is a good setup that lots of people have been using, me as well in my mono. Lots of info available on this motor esc combo.
A metal gear high torque servo for rudder, they take a pounding so metal gear is a requirement for longevity.
Your battery choices are fine for any of them.
I'd go for the 3 channel radio, it has a 10 model memory, this means it will store all the settings for up to 10 different model/receiver setups.
A charger with some watts behind it is the last thing you haven't listed, don't get a cheap 50 watt charger, it will take hours to charge you batteries, buy as powerful a charger as you can afford. It can take an hour for a 50 watt charger to charge one 2s 5000 mah pack!
I think that hull is a bit big for a 36mm motor, The overseas retailers are overly optimistic about power requirements. Big part of the reason why most chinese RTR boats need to be pretty much gutted and upgraded right off the bat. SMall motors and esc's.
