Looking to purchase my first elec. boat. Kinda leaning towards Venom P1. Primarily cause it looks cool. I have been reading past posts and sounds like there have been some quality issues in past. Anyone have any recomendations? Looking for a nice looking scale boat with some decent quality!

Depends on what you want to do and where you want to go with it. Most importantly how much do you have to spend?
If you dont mind doing initial work/upgrades and getting the boat a little cheaper from the start the Pursuit from Hobby King is good value. If you want to spend a little more and not deal with the headache there are some upgraded ones available from OSE or Kintec. Also Ray Fullers has been putting out some hulls minus electrics that look mighty nice for around $250.
If you want something plug and play the SV27R is a known good product. Its not perfect, but a good solid base to start your boating hobby.
Personally I started with a smaller (25") chinese fiberglass hull w/hardware. I burned up the motor on first run and the ESC on second run. I then upgraded the electrics and had a much better time. I advise this path because 1) you learns more 2) your going to do this anyhow.

i think you would be happier with a motley crew or miss geico if your looking at the catamarans, alot of people have good things to say about em. i have a hk pursuit and love it there again you have to put better motor in etc. STAY AWAY FROM SPARTAN ! i like the looks of the hydro's myself they can be touchy on setups but look real good running. i personally have a venom ekos and its more of a shelf queen in all honesty. good luck

if you are looking at mono hulls u can get a proboat impulse 26 or 31 or an aqua craft. the impulse ive had a good experience with i hardly read of any probs with the impulse 31 but i own the impulse 26 and it does well till the losi remote craps but u can always ask for another remote if its defective

The Impulse 26 is a plastic boat. The motor and ESC is not brushless. Not what I would call "Fast electric".
To upgrade that boat you will have to buy new motor, esc, radio. At which point you would be better off with a Pursuit.
For a first boat I would recommend mono. Good all around hulls.
You gotta decide if you want to pay now or pay later. Most RTRs arent the best (value based ones) and the ones that are good are COSTLY.
