It depends on the wind of the motor D or Y, should tell you in the specs.

Well, i would lower timing to 10 degrees and put a bigger prop on. 4400kv with a max voltage of 7.4 gives you no room but should use a smaller boat and a big prop. You did mention that all was cool after running with no speed increase.

Ok, i went looking for the original motor for the shark-2858-4500kv and found nothing for a 7.2 lipo. Try Exceed boats as i think theirs has a 4122kv but don't know the rest of the #'s. The 2858's can use 7.2 for 4500-5400 lipos which you know already.

I was reading a post here on this site where a 2900kv was used but on 3S. Page 2 by Grimguard. Figure that 2900 x 11.1 x.90% = 28711rpm on your 436 metal prop. Lipo weight 2S for the 2858 motor should equal 2900 motor on 3S so self-righting works correctly, hope you follow me. Read the page 2 first before jumping. 4400 try a one size up in prop size first for heat of motor and esc first, ok=ok=ok!

4400 kv on 3 s equates to 40,000 loaded rpm, your gonna burn it out,you should be going with less kv on 3 s ,thats a 2 s motor in my opinion.

I would try the 436 on 3S and run a minute and check the heat. Last night, i checked the Shark and Exceed models and the picture had 650 and in same caption, the size of 650 was 23" and thought what the H*** is going on as most models say 650 = 26" not 23".. BTW thanks for the private message. Thought you should know as were friends in private. Try the 436 on 3S and let me know, ok.

Well took the boat out today and it ran good with the x437 prop and 3s and motor and esc was warm didn't bring my temp gauge so don't know if it was too hot ran for about 5min or so will test again with temp gauge if too hot should I go smaller on prop? What's too hot for esc and motor?
