To be honest im not sure I am also new to this hobby and dont know if it is really necessary, but unfortunately I don't think you will get much help on this forum as people never seem to actually reply to anything posted. Strange for a forum usually there are lots of opinions going about.

Remove your flex after every days running and re lube the flex or you will regret it,its good practice to do this after each day so your flex can not only be cleaned and lubed but checked for any wear and tear.Some of us do reply

Pull flex every day after running to clean and don't lube or insert flex till it is time to go boating. Reason; rust will occur if you insert and don't go boating for some time.
