There seem to be many opinions about this speed of the Villain but the most consistent I have seen would be 17-20mph stock. I have an EX that I am modifying. I have talked to a few others that have done the same mods I am working on and they are getting around 30mph. It is possible to modify to go faster than 30mph but the hull is too unstable at that point and very hard to control.

If you are already thinking of upgraded a villain ex, then please dont get that boat, I got it and I sold it, It is to costly to upgrade everything and still you wont be able to break the 30mph due to the limitations of the hull. Try getting a boat from finedesignrc or others to get some nice speed out of the box. On my villain EX I paid 290 for it, 90 for propellers, 12$ water cooling, 3$ autobailer, Brushcooling. so thus its close to 420$ or so and even with that the gears strip everytime u take a hard corner because they bind. Steer away from it if your looking for speed.

djc, you have some nice mods, when your done you should hit 35mph on 6 cell, you shouldnt use 7 becasue trinity sais you cannot with the monster motors. but if u go ahead.
If you want more speed try inboard rotation, it makes it crazy though.
traxxas sais on 7 cells the villain ex will do 20-24, 6 cells id say 16-20, most people hit 18

no, jsut make sure you run 6-cells, the motors arent made for 7 cells, i reccomend the milds, there 21 turns but thats in between the titans and the wilds, and 3 turns over the esc limiter, so it should work perfect.

Hello, I am thinking about selling my old Villain IV to get a newer Villain Ex, I need to know if this is a good reliable boat that combines all the necessities (speed, turning, etc..) into the stock RTR package?
