I have an old Cat that used 2 6 cell batteries and twin engines. The mechanical speed control switched the batteries from parallel to serial so half speed was 7.2 volts and full speed was 14.4 volts. I think it had a slow and/or reverse that ran through a resistor. I want to revive it with an ESC. Any recommendations? Maybe an eTraxx ESC?

http://www.rc-hydros.com/ its a victory controller. they competely redid it for me, ne wones go for $90, this is as good as new ! it has the watercooling built into it, you just need a water pickup and some tubing (plumbing).
let me know if you want it, if not its going on the for sale section ASAP !
thanks, Dave

Gordon,
Simplest thing to do is to determine how much current your motor draws at max and get an ESC that's rated for that. That usually means doing a 'stall' test on the motor to find max amps. Then just read the ESC specs till you find one that will handle it. A little 'extra' ESC is better than not enough ESC.
