Sounds like you need a better ESC. Proboat sells a nice one with 70 amp continuous current forward and 30 amp continuous current reverse. The other responder mentioned EBay. I just bought 10 waterproof ESCs from a seller in Hong Kong for $20.00 each and they have proven to be quite good. They are 100 amp continuous forward and 60 amps continuous current reverse. I have been using them on a PT boat that I just build and have one on each of the speed 600 motors each of which is powered by 10 D cell NmH 12v10aH battery packs. So far I have not discovered any heat build up in the motors, ESC or batteries after running them full out for one hour. You might take a look at the Ebay site. Just remember, however, you will continue to burn up boats if you don't pick wisely so don't be pennywise pound foolish.

I’ve never had a problem with my Turbo Vee. What battery were you using?
It’s only rated for 6 cells at 7.2 volts.
If it’s only your second run send it in for warranty repair.

Company's name is RC Smart. They trade out of Hong Kong. Received well packed package within two weeks of winning auction. I am pretty happy with the ESC so far. No glitches and operate as advertised.

Given the size of your motors, props, boat and battery, I would try to find out what the maximum continuous amp draw is foreward and reverse and then pick the one that protects me the most between the battery, ESC and motor. As I told you in an earlier Email, I opted for the waterproof 100Amp forward continuous current with 60Amp reverse continuous current since it will have one ESC for each of my three Graupner Speed 600 BB motors with gear boxes. That may be overkill, but I have a lot of money tied up in my boat and don't want to fry it since I built it and don't want to piss off the wife. I am running 12v10Ah NmH of 10 D Cells each for each motor. We figure that we should get about an hour run time with the 35mm Left handed props from robesch that we have purchased.

just had that same problem and am just now trying a water cooling setup for the esc, if your esc is enclosed like most its for sure gonna heat up and maybe blow, it is heating up right? mine got so hot one of the esc wires came off and the boat just up and quit!!

I've used cooling judiciously. Prop sizing though has reduced the strain on the motors. Gear boxes have also reduced the strain on the motors as well as water cooling. I haven't water cooled the escs or the batteries which appear to stay within a reasonable temperature range (not too hot to touch). I need many more runs before I can confidently conclude that the system is correct

I run the same ESC in my SWAMBC F3 Falcon with 19turn 540 motor, 6 GP 3300 sub C, Graupner 2318.29 or 2327.29, and an F2 version 12turn 540 2:1 geared, 6 IB 3800, Graupner 2330.32 both draw 30+A for 5mins. The esc was getting to 70'C before water cooling, now typically about half that, the 1/8in tubes are epoxied into slots machined through the cooling fins as it didn't fit my layout adding the pipes along the fins.
