Default The Offical Shockwave 26 thread!

I just though we need a thread for the shockwave 26 as it seems to be becoming a popular boat! In here we can help eachother with mods, etc and post pics and videos of what we have done! I will be going brushless and etc after a while. I have not driven my shockwave yet it is in the mail but should be here this week! Is there anything i should do to improve my shockwave when i get it? I am thinking of trim tabs and turn fins for handling but dont really know how to mount them and how they really work!

I would say turn fins . , Mine tends to spin out but that can always be adjusted by turning the d/r down . I will be putting in a team orion method R 17x2 with adjustable timing motor and we'll see how she runs . The boat runs really good , out of the box Im running a set of gp3900 and a duratrax 3800 . I did trim the out drive up alittle to keep it from running wet . But there isnt much run for adjustment .

So turn fins forsure! The esc should be able to handle the 17 turn motor as i read it can take up to 15 turn motors! How fast are you going with the duratrax 3800mah? Im gonna be upgrading to deans ultra forsure! Also what is a good upgrade prop anyone?

No sure how fast Im running I havent put my gps in it yet .. I do notice a huge difference in power between the duratrax and gp.. I think the duratrax are high discharge .. the boat is much faster out of the hole and all around . The batteries where bought at the same time and charged the same .

i got my shockwave 26 yesterday!......what a blast! It was very choppy and i still ran the boat. It was cutting right through all those waves and the big ones i got some air! It is truly a fun boat. I have one question though....mine came with some 1500mah 6 cell Nicd. If i get a good 6 cell nimh battery or 7 cell it would go faster right?

I will probably buy a duratrax 3800 after i get back from vegas as my mom wont let me spend anymore money untill i get back from vegas [:@] Im selling my house right now then im moving on a lake, so i will have all the time in the world to drive boats! My shockwave 26 should be here anytime this week!! I just cant wait

I just orderd a duratrax digital piranha ac/dc peak charger to charge my battaries with. I think it will do good charger my batts for this boat. When i go brushless i will try 12 cells and see how it is on the brushless system. I am thinking of putting in the stock supervee 27 brushless system in this boat. Is that a good choice or do you guys think it isnt a good idea and go with something else? Also would a x440 prop be a good prop over the stock? How many blades 2 or 3 blades?

I was thinking the same brushless system .. pretty good seeing that I had a sv27. Very fast out of the box . I would prob run a two bladed prop for the shockwave .

wow you had a sv27 and got rid of it? I would prefer the sv27 but the lack of funds at the moment caused me to get the sw26....I will continue with this boat though and build it up. Then im gonna buy a nitro supervee27 then later after i love the supervee27 i might sell the sw 26 brushless 12 cell just maybe.....i think i can get this boat in the 30mphs range. a supervee27 i think is around 32 stock. That is 12 cells and the same brushless system ill be putting in with 12 cells so i think it is possible

Here's a motor mount question for the SW26...

There are two bolts that fasten the metal motor mount to a plastic spacer that is epoxied to the bottom of the hull. Is there a metal plate inside that plastic piece for the bolts to thread into? Can I unbolt the mount without this falling loose inside that plastic spacer?

On the original there was no such metal inside the spacer. the screw just screws into the mount.

So the bolts that fasten the motor mount to the plastic hull (on the original version) just screw into plastic?

mxracer154.....have they sent you a tracking #? they say on their page they ship UPS but it ships Fedex(at least for me). If you also read at the bottom is says usually ships out in 2-3days. I was experimenting with the battery position and if you you put in between the motor and electronics it goes much faster!.....there is less friction on the water and it looks so much cooler. Turns are effected but not too bad.

P.S the battery and charger that it comes with is complete garbage. Dont think that something is wrong if your first and second run time is like 2min. After the pack cycles a few times it lasts about 5min.

Wow ok thanks, they havent sent me a tracking number yet, and it has been 5 business days.....So the battery is trash and the charger? Good thing i bought my new charger...When i get back from vegas i will buy a duratrax 3800 with deans! I will try different mounting places also.... Does the duratrax 4200 give you better performance then the 1500mah nicid battery pack to? How long of runs are you getting with the 4200mah compared to the 1500mah sport? I want a battery that lasts longer then 2-5mins wow how are you supposed to drive?[:@]i will probably make a discharger and do a couple charges through the batts...I have seen people make a light bulb and connect it to there battery and discharge like that, so i might try that!

the 4200mah lasts about 15min. you need to charge it for a while though....if its a time charger it will be 40-50min. It is a little faster. the charger it comes with is a time charger and only plugs into the cigarette lighter of a car........anyways this boat is a blast! Its the fastest one for the price range and best looking. A very scary think happened today. i was going in reverse and it got stuck in reverse. while in reverse it takes on water from the hatch if not sealed. It almost completely sank! I was able to gain control and it was limping back. I opened it and water was in there 2 inches deep! thank god the servo esc and reciever are waterproof, it didnt reach the battery. Also this boat is the most fun in choppy water. You go flying over the waves....its alot of fun. I have one question for you guys. is the supervee brushless motor a drop in? just take the old motor and esc out and put the supervee one in?
Thanks,

ya i bought a new charger so i wont need to use the crappy charger when i charge my batts. Also with the 4200mah do you get better speed and acceleration? Wow that had to be scary getting stuck in reverse!! When i ever get my boat im gonna put some flotation stuff in the front of the hull so if it takes on water bad, it wont sink! The supervee 27 brushless system should be a drop in as they are the same size cans. You may also want to try 12 cells on the brushless system(supervee27 brushless can take 12cells) and see how that goes! If emailed diversion hobbies like 7 times and i havent got any responses or anything....im gonna try calling them after school if they havent emailed me yet![:@]I wanna get this boat this week so i can drive it as im leaving for vegas next thursday!
I changed the name to offical shockwave 26 thread now!
